View Full Version : bottom pulley bolts
ok, so now i have my 2.0 redtop. i am stripping it down.
i have hit a small problem lol
i am trying to get the multi ribbed bottom pulley off, so i can carry on stripping it. but the 6 allen key bolts dont wanna budge. and they start to round them selves.
how do i get them off?
and also the big bolt in the middle with the weird shape head, can i use a normal socket or do these require "special" sockets and what are their names.
any help is great thanks
Grinder, cut the tops off, knock the pulley off then use a stud eremover to get them out. Then Pm me and i'll sell you some that have a plated finish and are strong as funk.
The center main bolt is a E20 (can hammer on a 16mm)
you can use a normal socket but its not recommended with how tight it will be.
most people call them star drive.
*edit* to slow
i was thinking grinder as i dont need the pully
but do i want the hassel of removing them lol
i could always weld a nut to them... hmmmm
cheers guys for the information
Then remove the main one and bin the rest and both another pulley and toothed bit.
i normally find the vibration from grinding them makes them loose anyway
ok excellent, grinder out tomor, good times and then just weld a nut on if need be lol
I always drill off the heads off(How do you get a grinder in there without grinding bits of the pulley?). Once the pulley os off the rest of the bolts should easily unscrew by hand.
