Crank sensor?

so the car was working fine the other day, then i went to start it again and it wouldn't, after checking obvious places i found the wire for the crank had melted as it was touching the exhaust:roll:

I get fuel prime, but when cranking the relay clicks off and doesn't do anything else, i take it its the crank sensor?

Iirc the fuel pump relay on a XE goes off the crank sensor. But if the wire is burnt out then it wont run anyway!
