Hi
i'm in the middle of rebuilding my k reg gsi c16se (coil pack engine)
see my project thread ;)
anyway i striped it down months ago and now i'm really close to
getting the engine running again and the front end finished (at last!)

my problem is i have thin brown wire with a ring terminal on the end
that comes of the wiring loom from the rear corner of the engine
above the rear plastic water pipe/starter motor area
its about 6 or 7 inches long

i thinks its a earth with it being brown but i would like to know where it goes really so i can refit it.

anybody with a late gsi or maybe a late sri have a look at there's
any help would be great a a bit of rep on its way :thumb:
cheers stu "7ova"

its only 6 or 7 inches from wiring loom

earthing onto rail is just asking for it lol Why not cut out the middle man and waiting and stick a live on the petrol tank :p

edit: coil end? :wtf: lemme look at mine, should be similar... back in a bit lol

XE is earthed at the rail.

i think it connects to the mounting bolt on the inlet manifold on the lifting eye, as an engine earth (nearside rear corner of engine)

just need somebody to have a look at there's and confirm it earth
and it goes there?

XE is earthed at the rail.

Guess it works like a faraday cage and the pressure fuel underneath stays safe, does seem a bit iffy as you read it though! lol

No earths down that side of the engine on mine, so must be a C16 thing (mines E)

a brown wire will be an earth and you can bolt it anywhere it fits. it really doesnt matter

the thick brown earth wire that bolts to one of the starter mounting bolts
does straight up to the battery, its not that one damen, thanks anyway.
i think it bolts through one of the inlet manifold/lifting eye mounting bolts
thanks for help burgo rep added:thumb:

when you look at the engine from the front
its on the right hand corner of the engine
its a thin brown wire about 6 or 7 inches long from the loom.
it comes of the loom that goes to the injectors coil pack etc

thanks again
