I need/want some 6 sided 1/2" drive sockets (10-22mm range) in a set but most places I've looked either dont sell them in sets (cromwell) or want to fist me (snapon)
Any ideas? £30ish would be ideal. And decent quality
Also need some deep 1/4 and 3/8" drive stuff but I can get them anywhere.
any motorfactor employeeeeeees get good facom/britool/etc discount? ;) lol
As you've excluded them I think you'll already know the Halfords jobs... IIRC... are not six sided.
Not that I use them. I clean them then look at them so no idea if they're any good anyway.
Pretty useless post. Consider this a bump :tard:
Pretty sure my mate has clark sockets, ratchets were toss but he said the sockets were spot on and 6 sided, might be worth a look?

i use halfords, hardned stuff, is 6 sided, and goes from about 10 to 21 i think, misses all the random sizes, never broken on me, and was about 20 quid. 1/2 as well
win win win imo

just out of interest, why do the sockets have to be single hex? i always buy snap on as i rely on my tools to make my living but they have offer sheets on the vans and sometimes they have second hand stuff that they buy and sell so maybe try that, although there is nothing wrong with sealy or clark gear, in my opinion you do definately get what you pay for, and i hate wrapping my knuckles on cars because of a wangy wratchet:wtf:
6sided is for those rather gay bolts/nuts that likt to try and round off, even with GOOD 12 pointers lol.
Didnt know helfrauds did 6 sided ones. Will take a looksee and use the trade card :)
1/2" as as starting point as I have a decent selection of 3/8" and 1/4" stuff and lets face it if you are worried about rounding things off its the bigger stuff that needs to be used :d
I'd like to get a Yamoto set but they only do 12points :( Before you jump in and say "whoooooo" its a brand that cromwell sell and its stood upto my abuse for 6 years now (the first 6 months of its life was taking US Army stuff appart).
£30 was a base idea, but I'm not lining the pockets of shat-on thats for sure!
Halfrauds 6 sided are their impact sockets.
I shall get some at lunchtime :d

oh dear, would you really 'impact' them lol
I shant be :p
plus I've never had a problem with helfrauds 'pro' tools.
I guess tha shat on man coming round to your place of work and giving you a loan to buy tools makes life easier but they arent the best of the best.
imo theres nothing wrong with the halfords stuff, its carrys a lifetime warranty too iirc

more to the point, I've NEVER needed to make use of that warranty!!!! imho that means more than the warranty itself

have you never swung a sledge hammer at a size 2 screwdriver before lol

I did once, the spring clip in a screwdriver broke, but then i managed to drop that into a mk3 astra fuel tank in a scrappy while trying to push off encrusted on fuel pipes :( Can't exactly go to them and say um, well it was broke, and if you really want to see it you can fish it out of this astra in the scrappy lol The ratchets on mine also seem a bit loose, but I think mine is the new "advanced" labelled stuff if that makes any difference?

mac tools do sockets which will undo a nut/bolt which is up to 70% rounded off, and trust me they work! alot of my sockets are 6 sided britool and they are wicked!
the 'advanced' stuff isnt pro, no matter what they claim.
the 'advanced' stuff isnt pro, no matter what they claim.
It's all been rebadged as advanced stuff though, when I bought mine half the kits were stamped with professional and the other advanced
I noticed that today.. hence not buying anything lol
I got an early "advanced" 1/4" set a while back and its shockingly bad!!! I'd have taken it back if I hadnt have got work to pay for it lol.
Me thinks they are doing some sort of cost down and as such losing quality etc :( shame.
Had a look at some sealey "pro" stuff and my god thats utter dog turd for the price they charge!
Looks like I just missed out on the decent ratchet/socket sets then :( I'll just keep taking the sods back until they realise it's in their interest to just buy me some better stuff lol
