Well over lunch I broke down woooooooooo :(

Going 60mph following traffic and my car decides to make a god awful racket, clatter bang bang clatter clatter (oh shiite). At first it sounded like there was no oil in it, anway I ended up being sat at the end of a busy bypass waiting for my mate to come and rescue me "yet again" :(

So he got to my shed and towed me outside my work. Checked the oil and there was plenty in there. So whipped the cam cover off and  it's snapped the bolt holding my pulley, knacked the end of the cam lug and busted my cam sensor.

Sounds like it was done to tight if it snapped the bolt, that or it was already damaged.

Possibly too tight but not sure as we had tensioned it up correctly.

Just hoping it's not caused any other damage to anything. Definately need a set of cams though.

Fecking nova's lol

Im going to strip it down now and see what's been battered about. I may need to build the old sr engine back up after all. :(

Needs to take that off the pallet, you're only supposed to put a tonne max on those. lol

You can't blame an engine because of a bolt failure. I bet the bolt belonged to the shoddy pattern tensioner someone put on it.

There stretch bolts and should be replaced every time they are undone ;)

Ok most people dont, but there you go....

Well it's knackered :( Pistons hitting valves and this disintigrated a follower which the hit the cam and chipped a bit off one of the lobes, that's what obviously made the bolt shear off the pulley :(

Oh and the tensioners were Vauxhall parts and the bolts on the pulleys also were replaced and new. Makes no difference when a piston smacks a valve

Your bolt shearing off the pulley made the piston hit the valve surely? That or your timing was waaay out lol
