Just phoning around now...
I've got "Project NovaStyle" to insure, along with a 1.2L Nova...

I might as well insure Novastyle now although its still being made, as I have the 1.2 to drive now ...no point in taking out two seperate policies...
or should I ...just in case I give the 1.2 to my Mrs to drive
(dilemna)

Novastyle has everything checked off on the insurance companies checklist (engine through to paint) ...4 yrs NCB to go on that. (26yrs)

1.2L is bog standard. 1 yrs NCB
QUESTION 1:
Dilemna... do I insure them both on one policy, or two seperate ones?
4 yrs NCB protected for 2L 16v (all mods declared)
1 yrs NCB on 1.2L

The reason for the dilemna is ...if I later on in year give the 1.2 to my girlfriend to drive ...do I really want to take the risk of having her on the same policy so that IF she does have a prang, I don't really want my insurance to go up (even when protected the premium goes up!)

QUESTION 2:
Do I want agreed value insurance?
I can get agreed value on the Nova to around ?7k. so if I need to recover the whole cost, that is what I get back, or otherwise on a normal policy I would get back the market value, of around ?1500.

But the cost is alot more for this type.

THIS IS WHAT I HAVE DONE TODAY:

LIVERPOOL VICTORIA Insurance 0800 404 014

on same policy for BOTH cars, with me to drive, Fully Comp. no mileage restrictions. Only me to drive. (protected NCB)
?727.01 with ?150 accidental damage
or ?602.56, with ?300 accidental damage

separately they are (for me):
2L 16v ?363.30
1.2L ?239.26

with girlfriend:
2L 16v 589.37
1.2L 338.78

HIC INSURANCE 08451 290 290

2 separate policies,
2l 16v, 4 yrs NCB, as agreed value (around ?7k), limited to 6k miles a year, fully comp. ?784 with ?350 accidental damage. (no protection of NCB) just me to drive.
with unlimited mileage it is ?940.

1.2L, as TPFT, 1yrs NCB, no mods, for me & girlfirend to drive ?307.00

SO WHAT DO U THINK GUYS & GALS?

Spent around ?15k on the car.
The insurance company is likely to value it at around ?7k.

basically is AGREED VALUE insurance worth it for ?600?
so if the worst happens, instead of getting back ?1-?1.5k I get back the agreed value...

ian had agreeded value... it was a waste of time.... cause they didn't even offer 1/2 of it

get the car valued when it's done by an independent insurance assessor
it isn't worth ?7k

how old is ur gf cause it's put the ins up a lot

mines just been payed

?234 for 1.4
?250 for 2.0 16v

My gf is 23, with no ncb or insurance in her name.
I will probably leave her off the 16v, and put her as named driver on the 1.2 only.

LV said to me if combined policy:
?363 for 2L 16v
?338 for 1.2 (with girlfriend) ?239 without her

If I got 2 seperate policies:
?514 for 2L 16v
?367 for 1.2 with girlfriend

They are finding if very difficult to insure me on the 16v alone, and my gf on 1.2 as named driver, on a combined policy. Why? They cant explain it either.
Also, its cheaper for the to do FC than TPFT.

HIC Ins said ?307 with gf on 1.2 TPFT

I've been on the phone to LV for nearly 2 hours!
holding... while they chat to their underwriters.

I think I will go with them ...its all got so muddled with all the quote!!

I've DONE THIS: (with increased excesss to ?300)
for
2L 16v ?363.30 (me to drive only)
1.2L ?338.78 (me & biatch)

all Fully Comp.
?702.08.

with instalment payments over year it is ?735.21.
(My chosen option)

As for valuations, if that happens, then I'll fight them in the courts by having the car valued later by an independent assessor.

at the end of the day the quote your getting for 2 cars (one high powered one basic) is ?200 cheaper than what I paid for my basic 1.2 nova 2 years ago with Kwik Fit! :o

I agree ref having it valued - you never get what its valued at initially. Hopefully you'll never have a smash but if you do, buy the car back from them (if its written off which it prob would be) and dismantle parts and sell on to make up difference (depends on damage obv).

I'd keep gf seperate from insurance personally - maybe have her as named driver. She should really build up her own NCB - put 1.2 in her name and put yerself as a named driver on policy.

Insurance is v complicated. Bloody good deal though on fully declared 2ltr 16v nova fully comp. Got any pics?

I wouldnt use either of them.

Liverpool Victoria wont insure me.

HIC are ?200 dearer than Flux.

Ste, u're in quiet Wales, and I'm near the Bronx!!
the only reason why either of them quotes ar eso low is beacuse they are done on combined policies for both cars ...otherwise the 2L 16v would've been over ?500.
They give discount to mult-car insurance.

Ben,
u WOULD go with them, if they LET u... LV are the cheapest around, no doubt, thats why I only called 3 insurance companies this year, as opposed to the whole of the Yellow Pages classification. :D

No they will insure me for my gsi but wont quote me on the golf (group 16)

For the GSi they worked out about ?40 more than Flux and with flux i can drive any other vehicle whilst on 3rd party.
