Hi all i am just wondering as ive seen alot of people painting their gearboxes and heads etc just wondering what paint you use? is it high temp paint or what? also what stuff do you use for cleaning it. with being a car valeter by trade i usually would use acid cleaner or tfr depending on how bad the dirt was however due to not working at the moment i can get hold of any. cheers for any help/ information you may be able t give. The best is normal 2k car paint or hamerite depending on what finish you are going for.

Good bloody good degreaser for cleaning and a good jet wash.

My box was painted with 2pack paint.

Most gearboxes get painted with Hammerite in the build threads.

was thinking about just doing my gearbox silver and then the block black? would the block need heat proof paint so it doesnt set on fire or anything daft like that? thanks again ian

i use engine laquer, for obvious reasons lol. get it from halfrauds etc., prefer the brush on stuff as its pretty hard wearing, doesn't flake and has a glossy shine to it.

Silver Hammerite looks decent enough, mine came out well.
