World + dog.

Next question?

Spudly
02-09-09, 06:42 PM
Yes, and this is why saxo owners cannot drive properly, they dont so much use the pedals, more just mash them all heavily with one foot in the hope some acceleration may be acheived lol

spudly your exactly right there mate my mate rolled his four times but then bought another, why i dont know

Handles **** hot and goes well, very well for a standard engine

And yeah the pedals are mega close together.

Why the hell does everyone on here hate saxo's? My mate has a limited edition two tone VTR and its a very capable little car. Think its the 100 bhp version. Pedals are close together though I agree

not everybody on here likes novas either, but they stick with them.:d

mind you, im not a fan of corsa b pedals, the accelerator is to close to the arch bit.

Sturge

Yeah the pedals are close together, but you soon get used to driving with the sides of your feet.

But far more importantly they're perfectly laid out for heel and toe-ing, which makes an immensely fun car even better. Yeah they might be french crap and badly put together, but they're a hoot to drive, the vts goes very well, and I'd have another

I just catagorically hate french cars. It doesnt matter to me how good they are TBH lol

People on here dont like Saxos because they know the Vts will waste all the standard Novas lol
I think the Vts is a great car to drive, far far better standard than a Nova Gsi.
Yes the pedals are close together, but unless your wearing Billy Smarts shoes then its ok

106's/Saxos do have close pedals, but it's not impossible to get used to. I find the accelerator the most annoying as it attaches from the side.

In the past I've known mates with very well set up VTR/S and GTi's and Rallyes and I think they handle brilliantly, haven't had as much experience in standard ones but the French know how to build a fun small car.

When I first drove a Nova I thought the pedals were weird. As i was pushing against the arch rather than fully on the go pedal.

Blame the ghey offset steering position. lol

so a size 12 flippers a no no then ?

L14MNP

Pedals are close on a Sciecento Sporting too. However the traffic officer doesn't buy into a lack of pedal feel/control due to size 10 feet are what caused the massive burnout in your courtesy car! lol

I remember going to a cruise years ago and seeing about 30 Saxos parked up all "modified" but all looking the same (literally it was like they all modded there cars from the same one page ripspeed catalogue) never liked em since.

Saying that how many GTE/GSI on Speedlines did you used to see at cruises??

iv had a few VTRs and i loved them, so much fun to drive and very cheap insurance for 17/18 year olds.

iv got really small feet so the pedals were fine for me but i can see why people with size 10+ would have problems.

LMFAO, no they're not lol

TBH its not really a fair comparison to pitt the Saxo against the Nova. The saxo has all the mod cons and is a "modern" car.

04-09-09, 03:14 PM
I don't know why but I f'kin hate saxo's, I have never driven one either, for a modern car as RJ said, they are fugly and are being used by charvas for exactly the same thing as the Nova was in the 90's, horrible horrible cars.

when i was 17 i got a VTR. was by far the quickest and best overall car i could own and insure sensibly at that age. granted that was a few years ago though.

ive got to agree with adam, ive drove them and 106 gti's (im actually buying one next week) and ive got to say much faster than a 1.6 nova, and handle much better than a redtop nova.
dont get me wrong im not slatting the good old xe but a decent 106/vts would beat a redtop nova as its been proven many times on the d road near us, maybe the nova would have a little more top end speed, but the saxo/pug aint far behind, + when it comes to the twistys bye bye xe im affraid!

i bought the woman one a year ago a vtr. they are easy to work on and easy to find bits. i have to agree with adam they go well and handle good. dont know why some folk slag them off but think a 106gti is good when they are the same shell :wtf:

Next complaint? Or you lot just jealous that for same money you can a better spec faster car in standard form then a Nova GSi

i've never had any problems with pedals in a Saxo or 106

23-09-09, 07:03 PM
These little saxos are awesome funn and dead cheap as well, And use the spacing to your advantage ;) They are awsome when you learn how to drive them properly They only slide out on the **** end if you lift off.

Yes ive had one and driven one and had some funn, the clio williams was better tho. They will give most xe novas a run for the money all day on most a/b Roads roundabouts etc.

I would still rather have the xsara VTS over the saxo as they are a hell of a lot better built.

djshaggeh
23-09-09, 07:04 PM
The reason I hate them is the image they have. Not forgetting they're not that fast for what they are. They also look like a big dung heap with wheels.

I got my GTE waaay cheaper then one of these.

Novas have just as bad a image tho.

You can get a VTR for £600 now if you look around chap, most average condition GSi's fetch twice/three times that.

Rexy
23-09-09, 07:18 PM
Pmsl @ image... dude you drive a nova and your arsed about the image.

You can pick up VTS saxos for around £700 in a half decent condition so get a half decent nova these days your looking at twice that.

djshaggeh
23-09-09, 07:23 PM
I think the nova image is wearing off slowly myself or at least saxos have taken over from the nova.

£600 - The GTE was even cheaper then that by a fair bit. Its not aswell equiped admittedly. No electric windows, no power steering, just the way I like it. I even got some rust thrown in too.

Cool, I thought as much. I'm a tyre fitter by trade and that REALLY aggrovates me, that and new minis with a pressure low warning light, that doesn't specify which tyre is low:(

i drove my mums when it needed fixing

The pedals are too close, its just not comfortable to sit in, i mean, your legs are either too cramped, or the steering wheels too far away lol the steering is far too heavy (it was only a 1.1 and heavy as f*ck)

changing gear was similar to what i can only assume to be a well abused 1970's 7 1/2 ton wagon

jsut wait till a cv joint goes, you need to replace the whole shaft! and not forgetting the cheap and nasty cv boots thats are more plastic than rubber
