Just picked up a pre lambda XE loom and it looks a little different to ones ive seen before... It has a wierd big block on the loom which i have no idea what its for, and what the wires attatched to it are for... (in honesty id rather not have the block dangling in the engine bay).. So whats it for.. is it needed?

Also i have some funky goings on near the coil/dizzy.. could anyone tell me why there may be a loop connector down there (which looks like it could possibly connect to the switched 12v but im not 100% certain)...

Finally does anyone know what number the switched live is on the pin of the ecu? (so worst case i can just add my own wire in)..

First one looks like a lambda plug???

At a guess the second one is switched live. Previous owner probably used the old nova coil feed in the same area.

A wiring diagram and a DMM are the only way to find out exactly.

lol hope not!!

Its a massive box connector with about 5-6 connections in there... looks like it was some kind of power type thing :s

Both look like they have been bodged on by a previous owner, so a wiring diagram and a DMM are the only way to find out exactly.

Anywhere i can get a better diagram than the haynes?

Nothing wrong with a haynes diagram, you just have to know how to read them lol

I would guess the guy used that to connect the other wires. Maybe the fuel pump / rev guage/ ecu light, perm live etc

The ron plug (the big naff brown thing) is further up on the loom ....

Nah, i can see that cable tied to the fuel pump relay in the third pic :)

Could the plug be something to do with a starter loom on the original car it came out of?
