Hi all is it possible to put throttle bodies on a 1.2i.
You can put throttle bodies on a beef burger if you like, and it'd probably be faster lol
Seriously though, i doubt anyone does a manifold for them, but if you find something suitable then sure, but why spend all that money on the bodies, management etc (you're look at a very easy 4 figures) on a 1.2 when even a 1.6 would probably end up faster as standard.

Nah its just that this guy i know was like dont put an induction kit on your car put throttle bodies on there because the induction kit will make your car slower and i was like they dont make throttle bodies for 1.2's so i said exactly what you just said why not just put a bigger engine in lol
Induction kit, say £100 at a generous max
Throttle bodies, I believe SBD's 'race' kit for a 16xe is around £9000, but £1500 min for second hand maybe
Yeah can see why you'd just chuck bodies on there instead of a filter :tard:
Throttle bodies are throttle bodies.
Will go on a 1.2 ! But there seriously isn't any point...

exactly im 17 not made of money and he was adimant that you could but he was like you gotta shave down the manifold or something its also a case of i just want bolt on stuff i dont want to be messing around with the engine but is it true that an induction kit will make it slower because i know people say you probably wont notice any difference really in performance just alot more noise but surely not slower why make something that de-restrics the air flow and it makes it go slower your defeating the object :tard:
more noise, suck all the hot air in to the engine(make it slower)
and when you think its got a kick its actually a flat spot;)
all in all...save for a bigger enginelol
btw for £1500 you could buy new throttle bodies and if pay sbd prices then you obv got too much money to spend;)

well in which case is it easy to drop in a nova gsi engine or a corsa sport engine.
What about the management? Where is the crank signal going to come from? That would need to be made up via a trigger wheel...
Apart from that it is possible. In fact someone do it, I would love to hear it.lol

Then legally insure it, Of course :thumb:
but is it true that an induction kit will make it slower
Depends on the engine and the location of the filter.
Most of the time uneducated modders will remove their airbox and just bolt on a cone filter regardless that the airbox was stopping hot air entering the engine, ergo making it perform less.. If you shield the cone properly and give it a cold air feed, it can be beneficial, but again, it depends on the car. Some management systems will adjust the fueling to match the air flow, whereas others will strictly stick to a map. The latter will probably not benefit at all from a cone filter, in some cases it can be quite detrimental.
Old Golfs are a good example as I had a few!. If you had the older Kjet injection system, it would auto fuel itself to the air and they LOVE properly installed cone filters, whereas the later Digifant would more often as not suffer slightly from them.
As far as the 1.2 goes, i wouldnt even waste money on a filter let alone a TB kit. At least with a multipont engine you will get a nice deep engine note. The SPI will probably be exactly the same performance and noise wise, rendering the filter only good enough to meekly wave your willy when your bonnet's open lol

Meekly being the key word lol
£9k fo TB's??? You lot are shopping in the wrong place!!!!

Not any ordinary TB's, M&S TB's.

IIRC that is SBD's price for their full race spec 1.6 kit, around 230-240bhp or so lol I looked them up a while ago out of interest.
You could wack a set of bike carbs on for a laugh ?

Jesus christ man! For half that youll source Jenveys an some DTA!
SBD kit is the full set of cams, rods etc to survive the power too, I think anyway? But yeah 9k is a hell of a lot, doesn't even make sense in a road car at all.
My QED kit with bodies, filter, DTA, pistons, cams and lifters was only half that! Fecking rip off if you ask me!

Blah blah blah, its all blox.
Would rather go to Mr Bowyer with £9k an have a motor from him.
If you really want to tunje the 1.2i have a read of the thread on tuning it in the articles section i have done such mods like 1.6mpi cam, 1.8i throttle body and 1.6inlet manifold, 4 branch, and 1.4 injector and seen pretty good gains mine made 71bhp @ 5200rpm and 75lb/ft torque.

Sounds like he might have read a tuning article once upon a time...
