Hi everyone...looking for a little bit of info !

I have sourced a 1.3 SR engine and g/box and am planning to transplant it into my H reg 1.2 Fling.

Has anyone any advice on things to watch out for ?

I presume I have to split the engine and box to remove the 1.2 lump and ditto for fitting the 1.3 ?????

would you recommend upgrading to vented discs/calipers ? I want to keep the car on 13" wheels and have seen Astras T Diesels with 13" on. Would they just bolt on and have the wheels the correct offsets ??

Thanks a million !

the only brakes that are worth upgrading to in my opinion are the 16v calipers from an astra or cavvy

unfortunately u will need at the very least a 14" wheel thats 5.5J wide to fit em on

any particular reason u wanna keep the 13"?

as for the engine u can split it or keep it together its upto u

its a lot harder to manoever when its in one piece but its prolly less hassle

the reason is cost ! I can get the astra TD calipers and discs for nothing so I hoped they'd just bolt on.

as for the engine/box do i just lift them out from the top or drop them out ?

astra TD calipers are prolly similar to the astra GTE 8v ones i'd assume?? 256x20mm?

they should bolt on fine i'd expect as all it has are 2 10mm allen bolts iirc#

i pulled mine out the top, but the front end was off the car and i wasnt really caring about the damage done to the engine bay

if your taking it out the top i'd reccomend splitting it, if your goin down then just leave it as one

drop the engine / box complete straight out the bottom , its the easy option as there is less fidling around

if you split the box you still have to remove the lower arms to get the driveshafts out etc

just jack the car up take off the struts hubs etc complete, and you are left with a nice big hole to drop the engine thru
