Does the above carb add any performance to the car?
How much would it roughly be on a 1.3SR
And is it worth getting a 4 branch manifold or just stich with the standard manifold.

Cheers M8tys

adds about 5bhp on average and fuel economy bout 125 quid i think , manifold will help airflow difference wont be very noticable, but good with other mods such as head porting etc

carb new is 200 quid. second hand ones are rare coz everyone wants one- so yes they are very worth getting. is yours manual choke or crappy sort of auto shit choke as if earlier(manual) you will need to change manifold or get an adapter plate. so allow cost for that. but it is def worth getting if set up properly, eg r/road.

there are loads about. the 32/34dmtl was commonly used on ford fiestas, escorts, etc. and many other cars. get one if you can from a 1.3 car, if not, get it rejetted.

just remember if you dunno what they look like, its a 32/34 DTML (or DMTL) that you ask the scrappy for, as the 32/34 is just a size measurement, there were many carbs that came in 32/34 and some may not be suitable.

a dft would be ok though.

the 3234dmtl was NOT fitted to any fiesta /seirra /escort la la la

they were only ever fitted to landrovers and only 1 type of them as far as im aware.

weber make lots of carbs and they all look fairly similar , the chokes / throttle pltes / jets are all different on each carb.allso jetting is usually different between each type of engine depending on its characteristics so the jetting for one 1300 engine will be different to another.

you can make the other carbs fit and work but these usually require rejetting and some mods to get them working properly etc.

i would guess you have never used a 32/34dmtl or you would know what your on about

thats funny. my missus' h plate mk3 1.1 fiesta has one. and before you say it was added, its listed in the haynes manual as the STANDARD carb.

pretty fuckin big misprint if they devoted a few pages to it. with pictures too.

i rest my case

the person who cares will be the poor sod who buys one ;)

as the throttle butterflys are significantly smaller

plus i think the festa one could be autochoke and possibly vacumn operated second choke , but not having my haynes carb manual handy i cant tell you

i've got a propper webber 32/34 nova conversion kit fitted on mine.... it's much better than the standard tat but gave 0bhp on the rollers

ste...

did you open out the port holes on the inlet manifold or leave them standard when the adapter was bolted on??

i recon it would
as if you just slap it on the original manifold you are still flowing thru the same size holes 27/29mm?? these were big enuf for the pierburg as the throttle openings were that size
your not making any use of the extra throttle butterfly size on the weber

if you open out the hole to suit the bigger carb you gotta get better flow and less restriction making more topend power.

my 2p

i have not tryed a b4 or after cus the weber i fitted (which will has now) i opened out the carb mount into 1 large hole so only ever tryed it that way

well with the way my 40s and engine is behaving - or NOT  as the case may be - i may be going back to my old 32 34.

as it was fitted to a 1.4 manifold, but the ports are small and square, and when fitting the 40s i put a 1.3 head on to match the ports with the 40 manifold, and also cos their bigger.

:?: :?: :?: :?:
can i buy a 1.3 manifold, and port it out the same?
:?: :?: :?: :?:

yes you can. the manifold is very similar just the port runners are different shape.

btw i would hardly call the 1400 ports small, its just there shape isnt that great for producing topend power.
