It seems the inlet manifold will be the most expensive bit and other people are fabricating their own. Its something I'm looking into as I know a couple of people in that work engineering and having some experience myself. Just googled it and found this.

ive just put bike carbs on my xe. I bought a full kit for £400 but the amp was fooked! So that cost me another £35.

You will need

Carbs £0 - £100
Manifold £0 - £250 ( or make your own)
Throttle cable £0 - £40?? will be a custom jobby
Bike Fuel Pump £0 - £50
Ignition kit - either get the mk2 cav kit ( like rocking horse ****! ) £0 - £100
or get a HH Ignition kit ( Dizzy, amplifier, Coil, Loom ) £250

The thers bits of wiring and pipes that go from the manifold to the carbs plus filters and getting the carbs setup to suit your car etc etc.

I would highly recommend it though!

but thinking never gets things done, several people have supplied links and breakdowns to everything you need but your replies imply you arent even reading up on anything ?

just buy a car with them already done ffs

What engine are you running?

You will need a manifold, FPR, some form of advancable timing (Mk2 Cav dizzy setup if 20XE is in) and the usual stuff like fuel lines, throttle cables etc etc.

I got set of bike carbs from a local breaker for £50 quid. cheap really.

Fireblade carbs as recomended by Bogg.

Bought a FilterKing FPR from EuroRallye for a £15.

All I need now is manifold, some fuel pipe, and throttle cable, then have it set up. One day I'll get my **** into gear and make my manifold.

This is for a 1300 8V so a bit simpler to do than an XE, however my dad's just done the R1 Carbs conversion on XE so I can give you info on that if you need.

It can be done cheaper than 40s and IMHO they sounds crisper and much nicer, and seem to be a bit more reliable at keeping their setup.
