well got myself a pair of bonnet lifters and they look the dogs:cool: , also got some savage tinting spray so i can do my rear lights a nice black,
Also got some Xenon H4 headlight buld which cost £5 off ebay:thumb:, then went to open the car so i put them on the roof as my hands were full (and yes you've guessed it) a gust of wind blow them off and smashed them:mad: (not happy, involved alot of swearing)
Also bought a genuine GM steering wheel puller for £10 and managed to put my sports wheel on, which looks cool:cool: :thumb:
will post pics tonight after work...
Nice one mate, well to the nova seh club :thumb: good luck with it, gimme a shout if you get stuck on anything and have a look at my link if you get time. Looks like a good solid shell you've got there, especially for a mk2 lol

So i can use hubs that are on the car i just have to source some nova gte drive shafts and cav cv joints?
Yes mate, gte shafts with 22 splines on the inner end, but they are getting hard to find because its the cheaper way of getting it running. You will also need mk2 cav 1.6 cv joints for it. If you can find the parts its much cheaper than going for big hubs etc..

That looks mental, I'd hate to look in my mirror and see that! You should be fine with a cav pump as well, 8v or 16v mpi :thumb:

Yep Nova hubs GTE outer CV's, GTE Shafts and MK2 Cav 1.6 inner CV's. Trust me mate been reading so much about this recently with my LET conversion planning http://www.pngclub.com/forum/showthread.php?t=131544.
The inner CV's are £47 each at Chris Astley. I checked out another site that does em for £30 - £35 but not sure which ones they are as there are two models. http://www.carparts-direct.co.uk/cv_joints_detail.cfm
Tidy Nova too, looking forward to seeing it finished :thumb:
Oh and I got the same seats as yours in leather (well they look almost identical) Will be interested in details of how you get them fitted.

may be up for sale shortly as its developed a slight problem with the standerd lump thats currently still in it and i dont have the funds to buy the remaining parts to drop the 20SEH lump in, so keep an eye out on the for sale section. Will be looking for around £750 (everything for a 2.0 conversion which includes 20SEH lump, f16 gearbox, chipped ecu, driveshafts and 2.0 16v brakes. DOESNT COME WITH GEARBOX SPACER, ENGINE MOUNT AND FUEL PUMP)

So looks like you're keeping the car, nice to hear :thumb:

A free LET? Must be a good mate, or a stupid one or a fubared engine IMO. NO ONE gives away a LET engine.
Nova_Tek
28-11-09, 11:15 AM
At least he's in the position to hear the engine running but either way even if it needs a rebuild then he's still got a free LET. Would rather Get a free LET and rebuild it then to buy one for 800quid and find out it needs a bit of work.
Mine was also nearly free in comparison to what they go for regularly, I had no problem exploiting an old mate with a bad drug habit
pics of calibra might want a few bits and peices. transfer box working?
Sell the LET and fit the 8v, you're guaranteed it not blowing up lol

Sorry not been on for a while had a problems. my garage got broken into a few months back and the LET was stolen along with my engine hoist, 2 trolley jacks and a few power tools.
Other than that nothing new on the car apart from a few small mods.
Got a steering wheel snap off kit:thumb: and managed to wire up a new stereo as the old 1 was fcuked. Managed to source a xe fuel pump off of ad:thumb: z, just looking for a mk4 astra now so i can officially start the conversion.
Well be having a custom exhaust built and fitted at the end of the month too. Ive gone for a 3" rolled out tip (to give it the retro look). Also should be fitting my digi dash some time next week too.
Also got my membership pack wednesday and put my PNG sticker on the front screen and it looks awesome:thumb: :thumb:

Well thought id start posting as i started stripping the nova down yesterday. Managed to get a fair bit done.
Bonnet, headlights, grille, seats(apart from drivers seat as i needed to get it back up to the garage), complete dash, door cards and wingmirrors.
All thats left is front & rear bumpers, wings doors and boot. Gonna be taking the 1.2 lump out as soon as i manage to get/borrow an engine hoist.
I was quite surprised to find no rust behind the light just abit of muck which i was quite pleased with.
Pic will be up soon as i need to find my USB lead

That drivers door don't look very good mate, actually that's funked. Looks like moisture was sitting and building up inside the door. You could probably just poke all that rust through into the door cavity.
Luckily for me my doors where mainly like your passenger door. A bıt of grinding, clening, emery cloth, bit of treatment, sealant and waxoyl made them solid and clean again.

Yeah think a new door is in order, shame the spare one I got it a passenger side one :(
Black is always a real nice colour and it was something I was considering at one time. It all depends on your bank balance. If you can afford to get it resprayed properly in black then go for it but red is also a good colour for a Nova.
