Right, as you know i work for Tescos now stacking shelves, which gives me the oppertunity to read things on the packaging....................... And there is something quite confusing,

A bag of peanuts, peanut butter and anything with peanuts in the title has "Contains nuts" written under allergy information. erm, I should bloody well hope that it does!?

I have also noticed its on porridge oats "Contains Oats"
Eggs "Contains eggs"

and im pretty sure anything else thats sole contents are a possibility allergenic will have the "contains whatever" on it, but i need to ask this, how retarded to they think we are?! I mean if your allergic to nuts, you dont buy peanut butter do you, same with eggs, ya dont go out and buy half dozen for brekkie?!

Not being funny but if your stupid enough to buy a pag of NUTS being allergic to NUTS fully aware of the fact you are and chow down thinking "oh it doesnt say that it has nuts so it must be safe!" then you really deserve to be kinda taken out the gene pool dont you!?

"OH never mind, used my last epi pen on that jar of PEANUT BUTTER but this bag of PEANUTS looks like it might not have any NUTS in, yummy OMNOMNOMNOMNOMNOM *choke*"

Who'd of thunk it................. things that say PEANUT or NUTS on the packet HAVE GOT ****ING NUTS IN!?!?!?!?!?

off.

lol the best ones a carton of milk - which on some states it "may contain millk".

Did you know (according to the discovery channel) that all processed foods made in the EU are allowed to have about 6% "other unknown matter" included. These include insects!

There was a thread a while back about stupid labels/warning stickers - was quite fully.

Do a search...

Yeah, but i'd imagine you can get Peanut Butter specifically for people with nut alergies (i.e peanut flavoured butter) .

So it kinda makes a bit more sense if you think of it like that. But there is no excuse for a bag of nuts !

I remeber reading in the paper one saying that there was a cheesecake that had "Keep box upright" printed on the bottom!!

But do you really think people are stupid enough to pick up a bag of peanuts knowingly that it is possibly going to kill them upon so much as a sniff? then sue dispite it says PEANUTS on the front of the bag??

Yes i know that peanuts are not technically a nut, but people with nut allergies still suffer problems with them, weirdly!

Also is i really nessecairy on things like eggs, bags of wheat etc? things that are obviously containing an allergen??

Exactly. The laws state that if the product contains nuts (or other allergens), it should be listed on the packaging - obviously, this includes packets of nuts.

i like when it says on the packaging "this product was packaged using a machine that used to package nuts" or something along them lines.
Thats because some people are so astoundingly allergic to nuts that even a trace of nut dust can set them off.

Mainly its down to us, Joe Public, who will sue at the drop of a hat over the simplest of things. So companies do all they can to cover themselves from a lawsuit. Don't blame the company, blame the fcuktards with no common sense and the $$$$WINWINWINCASHCASHCASH$$$$ lawyers with a law doctorate from ebay

Thats not strictly true; the lawsuit was not the fact it was hot, more the fact it was scaldingly hot. Their machines were boiling the water to some stupid temperature.

the person was also using a drivethru & bought a huge cup of it & had it between their legs on the seat.. it spilt in their lap causing extensive burns

oh bugger off, theyre yanks, 99% inbreds who think that theyre the be all and end all!! they think theyre own stupidity should be the meal ticket & half of the claims you see are caused by the people making them!

Let buy some hot coffee then drive along with it between my legs! Ive done that & spilt it, burnt me clackersack have I sued the Costa I got the coffee from for selling it too hot?? nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! why? BECUASE ITS NOT THEIR FAULT!!!

and this proves that you know sod all about americans......
all suburban americans get their early morning coffee & drive with it like that......... My missus is half septic (rhyming slang) and I've visited the states on many occasions..

as for the inbred thing...
a country that went from sod all to 300+ million in a century is a very genetically diverse country. unlike the UK

now back at the thread...... the reason these stoopid labels appear on food is because they had to pass a law to cover all foodstuffs & list any potential allergy sensitive items, ie. nuts, milk etc. unfortunately the obvious things like milk still have to have it on, and some people think it is ridiculous. BUT if you buy some sweets for your kids & one of them is allergic to something, them I'm happy that it is on the label.

There was a woman in the US (again) who put her show dog pet mini-schnauser (or some other pointless little breed) in the microwave and then when it blew up, she sued the manufacturers and won $6 million, so now all US microwaves have 'not suitable for live animals' printed on their instruction booklet, its because of people like her we hvae these stupids 'warnings', because if its not there, someone will probably eat a nut, have an allerigc reaction, sue the company and win

POP GOES THE POODLE!

Im not going to go into the inbred thing again, for the simple reason I would spend days arguing the toss about it and i cant be bothered!

Still your stating that i know sod all about americans, I know that i dislike most of them, mostly the American army & idiots like Mr Bush (again not going into it any further!) bit what im saying about the fact some yank had scaulded herself and the promptly sued the place where she got it from, obviously claiming that she didnt understand her coffee would be too hot to hold between her legs & drive in the normal fasion. IE claiming she was an imbacile, therefore the judge awarded her a stupidly large sum of money for "Damages" for being an imbacile.

This whole "Health and saftey" culture is becuase of the american sueing culture, it started there and has spread here because people knew they could make money from it, then the EU cottoned on to the fact people have started to sue becuase they are doing stupid things like eating peanuts dispite being allegergic (and knowingly allergic) and started stating the obvious so that people cant claim stupidity.

Even though they try
