1 litre gearbox

Does anyone know if a 5 speed gearbox from a 1.2 8v engine, will fit on to my 1 litre engine easily, and what speedo cable I would need to use? Thanks.

Wont fit onto the block due to the 1.0 being a push rod engine, not OHC like others.

I thought the 1.0 used an F10?

It does, but iirc the bellhousing is different.

the bolt pattern is the same but bolt size is different. easiest thing to do is swap the cluster. See one of the guides on changing diffs, all the info is in there.

ideally you should get the 5 speed gearstick assy too

if you swap the cluster, make sure you swap the diff gear over on the output shaft.

the main problem with the 1.2 5 speed conversion is that you end up with a really tall top gear.. and no power to push it down the road.

Best to keep it a 4 speed then & save for that engine transplant/faster 2nd car.
