Been trying to clean up my valves, inlet ones came up nice with some general cleaner/degreaser and abrasive strips but the exhaust ones are quite stubborn with quite a build up.

Any hints and tips?

pillar drill + sandpaper or leave them in thinners for a week!

Pillar drill and abrasive paper worked well on the stem and back, but if I sand the front with rougher stuff it seems to leave sanding marks which can't be good?

wire wheel on a bench grinder thingy.

just start with a rougher grade to get the carbon off then finer stuff to 'smooth it off' a bit after

Not got a bench grinder but I'll try putting it in a vice and using a wire wheel on a drill. Or be careful with the rougher sandpapers. Cheers chaps.

you would get a more even finish putting the drill on the vice with the trigger taped and the valve in the drill and get a p120 or p180 grade sand paper and clean them up that way, thats what i done before and worked a treat

I have a bench wire wheel and a pillar drill - can always come use them if you like.

Cheers Prey, will let you know if the wire wheel on the drill doesn't work. Already had the valves in my pillar drill but was skeptical using anything too coarse in case it damaged them.
