23-08-09, 09:28 PM
never heard of a 1.6 ne......where did you find the engine no. from?

they did a small block 1.6 with 8:1cr for the south american market to run on crap fuel & sugar ethanol....

Is a 1.6 8v ne engine from a calibra?

mowgli
23-08-09, 09:42 PM
it definitely is not a uk model.... ne engines were big block... like 1800 & 2000. maybe they did a 1600 one for some strange tax reason in another country.

why do you need such a thing anyway?? have you bought a secondhand turbo kit off the net?? it could be off an american lump....

novajulz
23-08-09, 09:45 PM

Start a proper for sale thread in the right section then.

There is a big block 1.6 but really just dont bother as it weighs a feck load and even with a GOOD turbo build it wont be muc faster than a lash up build 1.6 small block lol

novajulz

really cheers mate thanks for your help. so would i still need a spacer plate with the c16nz bottom end?

Ben

better of sticking toa c16se or an e16se as these are most common 1600 bottom ends which get turbo'd and the advice and kits will be based around these. If you want to go and try something completely different please do, but...

with the questions your asking i wouldnt advise it, if you are insisting on tubo'ing a 1.6 which is hassle in itself just go the tried and tested methods.

Do a search on here and have a look what others have done.

Why do I find your posts/replies so hard to read Julz?

Anyway, 16nes cane in Single point Cavaliers, but beware as some of these were Big Block engines. Their bottom ends are stupidly unreliable and generally not worth the hassle. On the other hand, they're common and easily found for little money. The C16XE Cams and other parts do fit straight on but you're still running with the weak bottom ends which could spell trouble.

Have a look on www.vaux-extreme.co.uk (http://www.vaux-extreme.co.uk) as its their speciality on there.

Lynsey
24-08-09, 12:46 PM
Why not just sell the turbo and fit a 2.0? It's much simpler. And I have a 2.0 engine for sale lol

Ben
24-08-09, 12:48 PM
ok thanx mate i really dont know wot to do lol.

Well in that case dont do anything yet, read theforums and have a good look round before you decide to goand buy this and that for something as you will end up changing your mind 100 times.

Start off basic and work yourself up.

Or you could use a 1.6 16v and funnily enough I have one for sale with all the trimmings, ECU, Loom, close ratio gearbox, and its a C16XE corsa GSi engine.

Stuart

wot repeatedly :p

but seriously, Bens advice is best. Make your mind up what you want to do/spend and go from there as at the moment you are all over the place with ideas/suggestions and its only going to confuse you and us more and more untill you wind up with a shagged engine

What is the car being built for - trackday use or a (less tempermental and reliable) road car? What power do you want to see from the engine? What do you want to spend?
