Hi all

went to get my car setup / RR as i told you all.

basically they wouldnt do it there and then and said MAKE THE MOST of the engine i have, so i have got to

A) change choke size to 30mm
B) change ram pipes (suggested 22mm MAX)

i dont want to loose all my torque though - what are your suggestions on the ram pipes situation?

anyone know where i can get chokes / ram pipes from is the main quesiton?

ASAP would be great!!!!!

thankyou
mike

I ran 30mm choke on my 1400 with 42mm trumpets. Torque delivery was still amazing.

Best bet is to search for weber dealers, or failing that you could go to demon tweaks and pay a little more.

22mm? :o what exactly are you referring to? ram pipes? do you mean the trumpets that go on the entrance into the carbs- I'm finding this all confusing :? 22 mm is like nothing - less than an inch!!? I really cant believe this is right. If you shud be running 30mm chokes which sounds right for a 1.4 restricting it down to 22mm on the way using the trumpets sounds nuts to me. If the engine is drawing so little air that it needs this kind of treatment I would have thought either scrapping the 40's and going back a 32/34 DTML or trying to get smaller than 30mm chokes???

Sorry I've probably got the wrong end of the stick

um aint he talkin about the length of the trumpets?

as the size of the trumpet varies it alters the torque/power caracteristics of the carb

so for instance 22mm might be the optimal for max bhp where as a 45mm trumpet will slow the airflow down (due to the pressure) giving more torque???

well ive settled for 26mm LENGTH trumpets

ill get it setup and tuned etc at velos, and if it seems to be lackin torque, but the high end has loads of BHP, ill swap trumpets back.

went to Aldon Automotive in the end

Brierley Hill Dudley.

so

in a few weeks time ill have a set of chokes and trumpets for sale. trumpets i need to measure up, but chokes can be any size you want as ill get them machined locally.
