Anyone know how to checkif a company is going bust or gone bust? have searched companies house but cant find the company listed.

Its the guy doing the cars for my wedding,sent him deposit ages ago and then sent full payment last week, he has gone very vauge on emails and now returned the cheque saying can we not pay to the company but to a random name, the guy who emails is called ralph and he wants it paid to mr a giles!

just slightly concerened as time is getting very thin!
