no idea, but its funny, its running std comp at the mo, so once the comps droped it will lower the power a little,

Find a big block flywheel (try 1800 8v) that has a bolt PCD to match the 1600 16v crank you have. That'll mate the box to fly, clutch should be doable from there. Its been done with an 8v.

Only problem is a F28 uses a different input shaft spline to other big block boxes

Ste-45 was fitting his quaife f28 to his 1600-16v i know he swapped to a bigblock but sure it was mounted to the smallblock first, ask him.

why dont you just use an f20? be lighter, cheaper, easier to mount and should take the power/torque of your 1.6 fine i reckon

In essence not silly, but most F20's are on their last legs tbh & are infact a damn sight weaker than the F28. As I said previously. It has been done on a Scandinavian 1600 8v turbo that ran 300bhp & there was a white 1600T being broken a while ago that had an F28 fitted. Never was run though IIRC.

F20 would be easier to get rebuils parts for. theres also a chance that you could get a bad F28 so for the price of a dear F28 you could get 6 cheap f20s lol

as with all gm fwd boxes, sticking new bearings & some decent oil in will work wonders.....

if baxter is spinning the wheels in 5th, the box & clutch are working fine.. when there is loads of grip, the trouble will start, like flying driveshafts.....

I have seen people using F28's on 1.7TD's and they fit fine with the correct flywheel/clutch setup.

have you tried the f15 wr from a td van could be a stranger box maybe ??? or how about an f18 iirc with a hydrolic clutch from the mark 4 astra ???
