View Full Version : Where can I steel
some heavy duty castors from? I require eight all told. They're for the bottom of some very heavy 8' x 4' tool cabinets. Ideally I want the braked ones.
I could buy them if need be. lol
'Free' donors already discounted due to lack of SWL:
Bread crate trolleys
Supermarket trolleys lol

True lol. The magnetic strip at ASDA means you would have to lift/drag the trolley a good few feet before it's 'yours' though. lol
There's any number of abandonned ones in Washington (3-4 miles away) but like I say, I doubt they're up to it. lol

think just how much shopping gets put in them all day everyday for years. of course they are up to it.......
avoid asda, go to lidl
I prefer to nick bread tray trollies lol. ideal for making frames to push shells around on or wheel dollies. Neither have big enough wheels for what I want though. lol

Sainsburys are the ones that like to get dumped lol. I may even find a special wheelchair friendly one or a jumbo fat ar$e family job. Skys the limit.

B+Q ftw
B+Q ftw
:thumb: Also IKEA. I get ya. :d
A standard shopping trolley cost about £1000 each to make, yet the supermarkets sale them for a £1, wheres the business sense in that, in Belguim i can get them for 2p as the 2 pence coin is same size as €2 coin BARGAIN!
I found a large B&Q trolly that works very well at shifting most things about at the lockup.

I have a load of big castor/trolley wheels in the shed. I'll get pics later.
ive heard that a sawn off trolly base with the rear wheels welded strait and a foot rest steering set up on the front is good for about 50mph but after a few test's you need to move from co'op wheels to the high spec sainsburys items as they handle it alot better.
Well that was untill the rozers turned up and stopped are fun.

add the cost of a return ferry to ostend & that takes the shine of it a bit...
back in the very early nineties, a mate lived in dusseldorf & i would get bags of old 5p's & post them to him. reason being that they were the same size as old 1 deutchmark coins & perfect for the fag machine in the bus station.......
