can a faulty fuel pump relay cause a xe to run on 3 cyl??

dont think so, would normally make it cut out or hold back loads, had problems with a manta gte that shares the pump relay/fueling module and it used to start up good as gold and then when the relay played about it would just cut out,,

could be dizzy ? but suppose youve checked all the obvious bits?

start it up it will run good than starts running on 3. with smoke out exhaust.

hmmm could be a broken piston ring? does it breathe alot? lazy lifter? you running carbs or injection?

hmmm crank sensor going high resistance ?? would explain why its on 4 until it warms up a bit ??

when its not running on 3 it runs great. then it can just flick onto 3.... changed the dizzy cap a week ago didnt change the rotor as i didnt have one. i will change it tommorow

ht leads as a guess. one has broken down. same thing happened to a co-worker's frontera.

Make sure its not a dodgy earth somwhere, one of mine had vibrated lose and caused the car to run rough and wouldnt rev.

Have you tried running it with the temp sensor unplugged?

no pal i have not.... now you say that there was problems with that.....
