OK, as part of my up coming project, I'm going to completely redesign the interior (dash, door cards, 1/4 panels in rear etc) but am looking for inspiration from other cars. I'll then take the best and merge...

I'd be grateful if you would post pics or your favourite car interior (any make/model) or just point me in the direction of pics on the net of any...

Cheers

Ade

Here you go ADE

http://www.maxpower.co.uk/car/history_template.asp?idArticle=2117 that is the carisma TVR!

The thing is that the guy who did it Jamie shaw actually owns carisma which make interiors, so it is a one off! Unless you wanna pay for a custom job, this isnt really an option!

I know what you mean! U wanna do something mad like cut and shut a BMW dash into the nova! Has to be done for that one-off look!

http://www.4bmwm3.com/www/photo09.htm that site has a few BMW interiors!
As for ideas, hows about speakers in the rear panels, completely new door cards with speaker pods built in! Like this:

http://www.sounddomain.com/member_pages This is an american site! Spend some time looking at installs in various cars! They can be over the top but there is some nice door cards which have been made, with photos of steps!

Hows about using new dials and guages to make the dash up! Dont use the standard ones like Astra GTE, try completely new ones and pillar pod mounts!

I've got hundreds of ideas so if you want more PM me!

Id say keep your eye on modern day cars. take a look around at some manufacturers. Pretend your intrested in buying a new car and get a feel for the interiors of todays cars.

I think good interiors are those that have a connection all the way through the car, whether its the countours of the lines, or if the interior fits togeter nicely. I love it when a car door shuts and the interior lines follow on from the dash, down to the door cards and up through the back of the car and into the boot.

I personnaly prefer subtleness to over the top interiors. Quality, not quantity is what I go for. So why do I own a Nova? Joke ;)

cheers guys - more links please like whitey's!

There was a totally modded dash in Red Line (Feb issue) - some guy who built the dash for sound - looked weird but well smart!

I'm looking at a total different dash, clocks, vents, stereo, speakers, the lot!

Audi TT - VW Beetle etc etc just a few of the many ideas currently swimming in my head!

well, i can see what he wants! Think bout it guys!

He has done the mint standard Gsi look and it turned out great, but it won't get you a mag feature or individuality!

Good luck ade, I will give you more links as i remember them!

cheers m8! - yeah been infected by Cool Martyitis! 8)

Not looking for a mag spread (yet) - just a totally individual car that looks mint, sounds great and turns heads. Will only be taken out for shows, special occasions etc... Not too fussed about performance - more to show off my product modelling/sculpting skills (for portfolio and possible new job in future)

So a mag spread then!

Ive seen Novas worse than the one you sound like you are making with 4 page spreads!

Aim high Ade, a mag feature is the best you can go for portfolio!

if i catch the drift of what youre saying i think you may be limiting your scope by looking at traditional dashboard design with clocks-behind-the-wheel-big-block-left-to-right-and-bit-in-the-middle-leading-to-gear-stick.

Reasonably speaking you cant change where the steering wheel is, you cant change where the gearstick is and you cant change where the pedals are. As for everything else...

A new design will cause more of a fuss than a new take on an existing design.

Try and throw the existing layout configurations away.

I'll post more ideas as and when they happen

Tvr interiors look pretty smart anyway, even before jamie shaw does his magic.

Not sure if there is any interiors that I like other than them.

yep fester - looking for summut different in styling. Need to keep within certain boundries mainly due to limitations of existing brackets. mountings etc (havent got a welding kit and am not that nuts about creating summut bizarre) - just wanna make subtle but substantial differences.

keep the ideas/links etc coming...

why not try fitting a corsa dash and modify it?????

shouldnt be too much different from the nova one and i dont think it has been done before.

if u do tho, do something with the clocks and their plastic surrounds cos they spoil that dash for me. maybe a digi dash???

Like the pic of the 2fast2furios nos passenger :o

Nah - I'm looking at building a dash that aint been built before. Total custom.

the project I have in mind will probably leave the dash a dark colour - black, anthracite etc with highlighted chrome sections - but not over the top - quite understated. Looking also at coloured perspex, etched acrylic and neon

Keep the ideas coming

(aint seen it but...) There was a Golf at Traxx last year - car stereo company - forget who though (Bauham or summut - they have flame metal effects on speaker backs) - car was stunning in black leather and a raspberry purple suede.

Speakers made yer eyeballs wobble with the pressure

LOL! That would be audiobahn Ade! Very good quality audio equipment and also very expensive! Comes like that as standard but so does the cost!

Look at http://www.autoacoustics.co.uk They have got some nice perspex under ice accessories! Expensive though!
