Hi all, the tyres on my car are 195.60.15 im getting new tyres and was looking to go 195.45.15. Is it alright to go 185.45.15 so there is a slight angle on the side walls to give abit more arch clearance? Or even 175.45.15?

Cheers dave

what wheels are you getting?? ir there a vauxhall offset et49 you shouldnt have any rubbing issues with 195.45.15

id stick with 195. they're skinny enough as they are, dont know why you would want them any less.

some tyres do have more of an angle than others aswell.

Bear in mind the sidewall is a % of the width, so smaller width = smaller sidewall if you stick with the 45 ratio, making them even more stretched (and the rolling radius smaller too).

so if i go 175.45.15 the actual hight of the side wall will be for instance 40? do the thinner tyres fit the same as the correct width ones?

IMHO having stretch on normal wheels without dish etc will look hurrendous unless they are polished etc
a 185 will be ok as it will only be very slight but going down to 175 or 165 could look seriously wrong

and as said above when you buy new tyres just look at them first as some have bulgy sidewalls others are slightly angled my dad has 295 40 18's and there supposted to be 325's there not too bad but there isent much of a sidewall

No, the height of the sidewall will be 45 :wtf:

As said, its a percentage. So 195/45 and 175/45 both have 45 profile sidewalls, whereas the physical measurements will be different (195/45 = 87.75mm; 175/45 = 78.75mm)

i see. but with the stretch it will reduce the size of the side wall

it wont reduce the size of it, it will just appear smaller sometimes it appers bigger depends on the angle
