I love the Evo. Getting on for a retro look now!

Pics are great though, look quite similar to the HDR effect I use on a lot of mine - I'm guessing they're exposure bracketed and layered?

Awesome pics, little too shopped for being 'car' pics but fantastic pieces of art imo which deserves as much praise :d

I personally think the earlier shaped evos are the best as now theyre a few years old theyre getting an old skool look to them and they still cut it against a lot of current motors tbh:thumb:

Both cracking cars and yet again this month brilliant camera skill (even though they've had a boooost)

I'm going to have to get myself a decent camera.

explain the hdr process please...
Take three photos of the same scene; one normal exposure, one underexposed (to get detail in the highlights) and one overexposed (to get detail in the shadows) then layer them together to get particular effects.

Take this pic for example, on normal exposure the camera would either try to adjust the exposure to the sky (i.e. make the foreground too dark), or expose to the plants (and wash out the sky). If you manually set the exposure, you'd end up somewhere in the middle with the plants too dark and the sky still too light, as seen in this pic:

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a266/razorjack/Scenic/HDR4.jpg

Exposure +2 to pick out detail in shadows - note the sky is now too light:

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a266/razorjack/Scenic/HDR2.jpg

Exposure -2 to pick out the detail in the sky - note the plants are now too dark:

http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a266/razorjack/Scenic/HDR3.jpg

Layer the three together (I've done a little post processing as well to the layers and fettled the colour a touch, white/black point, gamma etc etc so this isn't the best example, but its the clearest I had to hand to demonstrate the process):

bugger me, check you out, makes me want to buy a camera lol might even have a crack with the old phone as i can change alot of exposure settings on that!!

Jack
15-08-09, 01:45 PM
Erm, a phone won't be ideal lol

You really do need to set the camera up on a tripod too, as the slightest movement between shots can cause ghosting when you layer them (where the images don't line up properly, a shadow appears round objects). A decent HDR program can adjust for that, but only to a certain degree.

Problem with a phone is it won't have AEB either, so you'd need to readjust the settings for each pic, during which time the camera will move or the scene will change. Its bad enough the wind blowing plants around between shots lol

...here's an example, one I pikey'd last year with no tripod. It was a bit overcast anyway so the exposures were short enough for the image stablizer to hold each one, but long enough to be slightly out of sync

Zoom 1:1 on the tin mine ruin, where its most evident:

^ thats using a range of image adjustments to minimize ghosting too :(

Sorry to sound stupid and as i think you know i have 450d but you are layering on pc software not on the camera?

Jack

lol

If you look in the shooting menu when on the manual modes, you'll find there's an AEB option where you can set the slider from 0 to +/-2 - thats for taking the three pics :thumb:
