How is the inner driveshaft held to the box?

Sould it just pull out or is there something holding it into the gearbox? F20 in this case? And for going back in, do I need to grease the splines?

if it doesnt pull out get a tyre lever or the likes and lever it out carefully.

Cheers, just seems tight. Have the whole new shaft hub and all so nice and easy to get back on - if I can get the fooked one out...

i have the right tool here aswell lol but your far away. the biggest screwdriver you can!! or something to lever it!

if your taking it out with the bottom ball joint removed, the shock still on and the drive shaft still in the hub. grab the hub and give it a few tugs out the way and it should just pop out.

ok, got the shaft out but 3 hours in the pissing rain I've given up!

The new shaft was attached to the hub so Instead of just popping the new shaft in I had to remove the old hub first but can't get everything back on....

I put the inner on then I put the hub on, caliper on, steering joint and then bottom ball joint but can only get the bottom bolt of the shock on arghhhhhh. What am I doing wrong? The inner shaft is in as far as I can get it - looks fine?!?

Get the strut bolted back onto the knuckle, and then fit it onto the bottom balljoint

i have spoke to john sounds like the shafts not in far enough to me.... or its a corsa shaft....

when you put the inner shaft back in, it can be quite difficult, if you push it in as far as it goes and turn it till you feel resistance (to line the splines up) then give it the hammering of a lifetime it should pop straight in, if the splines arn't lined up and you try and force it in you can damage the inner joint/gearbox teeth, i remember i did this on another car, it actually bent where the circlip is and squashed the ends of the cv splines, a big hammer and a grinder managed to fix it

If you have the shaft in, but it wont go all the way, the circlip may be too stretched to go through the gearbox cog

Checked with the guy and he said they're Corsa shafts... but said they were also on his Nova. So do Corsa shafts fit on Novas??

Thats bull, Corsa shafts DO NOT fit novas Unless it has a inch wider track.

I'm going to see him on Wed to buy Coilvers - at least they go on Novas and Corsas. I'll take them back and get my dosh, he raced cars at Knockhill and said when he rolled the Nova he took them off and onto the Corsa??

he's full of s***, i tried 2.0 corsa shafts against my nova ones (happened to have both lying round lol, might have a pic somewhere, will post if i find it) and there is quite a difference in length, he seen you coming mate
