well my laptop is just over a year old and the battery when fully charged says 100% 6 mins lol.since my laptop never moves, so after getting sick of always plugging the charger in so i installed a fused spur so a flick of a switch and its charging :thumb: how long does your battery last?

heres my modem and battery switch installed on the side of my unit for neatness

If its only lasting 6 minutes, your battery is shagged.

Its relatively easy to re-train a battery, some BIOS's have a battery learning option where they flatten and recharge the battery a couple times to get its capacity back, but tbh if its only got 6 mins life on it then you need a new one.

Remember of course that running laptops off the mains for 95% of the time kills the battery.

PCs have batteries too (CMOS), which can run out and cause havoc :p

The IT bloke at work reckons that you should take the battery out when you're running a laptop on the mains and only put the battery in when you want to charge the battery or run it where there's no mains. Apparently keeps the battery better for longer. Don't know if thats BS or not but its a work laptop so meh, I CBA to take the battery out everytime!!

I can drag about 2-2.5 hours from each battery, I currently have two :).

RE battery myths: Modern Lithium-ion batteries don't have a memory effect, but they hate heat and age. If they're kept on charge for too long (ie never unplugged) they get too hot and give up, and they tend to give up after 3-4 years anyway lol.

Mines about 9months old, lasts about 4hours on balanced, or about 2 hours if i turn up everything/playing games.

Got 2 other batterys to use when this one dies anyway, got both free, brand new lol.

Acer batteries are fine, I work with Acer kit day in day out. You've either had a dud or used it on the mains all of the time. :)

Bingo!

When using a laptop, always disconnect mains cable, unless charging. When charging is complete, disconnect mains again.

Mine lasts about an hour. Its plugged into the charger pretty much 24/7. Screen dims when not on charge. Most annoying lol

Change the setting then Pete, it'll be in the manufacturers power management utility.

IIRC they only lasted about an hour lol. Best price I can find for a replacement battery for that is around £70, you might find some cheaper ones from ebay but I've had a few dodgy ones from there.

£70 is a bit steep i ll just stick to permanent power when the battery gives up lol i was thinking my laptop is more like 2 years old. thats me >>>:tard:

Mine, about 3 hours- its only about 10months old tho..

Might have to start taking the battery out, as its mains powered 90% of the time.

3 years old... my old laptop battery doesnt charge enough to even so much as illuminate the power led. Run it from the wall, and its fine right up to the point where you disconnect the power - then it dies immediately. Champion!
