as you can tell from the pics i hav chossen throttle bodies,i have made a custum boost box for these so that they will be able to take boost, there is also an atlas custum fuel rail.i think this set up will work well when its all done and should be very throttle responsive.

what you doing about lowering the compression? i see you still got standard pistons? what manifold, turbo, management you using?

13-08-09, 10:36 PM
i will be watching this 1 what bhp are you going for

turbo-boy
13-08-09, 10:41 PM
not to sure yet but should see 200bhp with the injectors in it hopefully

16v Nova Kev
13-08-09, 10:52 PM
im thinking about building a 1600 turbo too so good to see another 1. how are you going to lower the comp

turbo-boy
13-08-09, 10:57 PM
2 head gaskets and standalone management so it wont pink and will be fueling right and timing will be adjusted for turbo

16v Nova Kev
13-08-09, 11:03 PM
to hell with the 2 gaskets im not into that but if it works then go for it im going to get my pistons skimmed and some of the head cut out and just go for 1 gasket

turbo-boy
13-08-09, 11:51 PM
i would rather keep my pistons as think as possible and run 2 gaskets,if the engine see to much booast the gaskets will blow as its the weakest link in the engine ,and it can save your pistons from melting

16v Nova Kev
14-08-09, 12:01 AM
aye a supose so dont know how thick the pistons are at the top but i have a spare 1 so im going to get 2mm taken of it and see whats left.

turbo-boy
14-08-09, 12:07 AM
the more thinkness you hav the better.i hav found when the 8v is turbo,b the exhaust valves dont last long giving sytoms of sticky valves and valve streach

16v Nova Kev
14-08-09, 07:43 PM
oh right. wonder what other valves would fit in and last longer

turbo-boy
14-08-09, 10:49 PM
i am just sticking with the standard ones.i think the prob was with other conversions i had them running a 5th injector on stanard management and this times im using water injection and proper management with wide band. few more pics here of the small block

looks ace where did you get your manifold from

NitrousVaux
15-08-09, 08:57 AM
After looking into a number of turbo applications the best option is to use a decompression plate. this eleiminates the two gasket scenario, provides a suitable base for the single gasket to bind to and basically means you have more meat on the head.

As I have tried to run large amounts of nitrous and turbo charging on my cars, the use of something like this decompression plate is a must.

The link http://www.ferriday.co.uk/ should give you more info. This means you can leave the pistons the same thickness but lower the cylinder pressure for turboing.

turbo-boy
15-08-09, 09:18 AM
i no when you mess with the gasket to mess with the sqewlch affect.means at a certain place in the bore when the piston is coming up on it compression stroke because spaceres have been used this messing with it if you no what i mean.i hav tryed spacer plates and didnt like them, each man to there own.

Great work, thats going to be rapid and most importantly still retain great handleing!

Make sure you get a diff!

yea need to start saving looking at what one is best for me.got a f15 long ratio there today. here keith do you see your alloy rad did it fit in ok on standard rad postion?

krobinson
15-08-09, 05:05 PM
My radiator sits offset to the right to clear the turbo, and the intercooler is the full size of the front between the slam and crossmember.

If your at the PCC show tomorrow i'll show you.

The engine is certainly looking the part
From what ive heard though multiple throttle f/i engines are difficult to map correctly, might be better off with just a single big tb on the inlet of the plenum

the car staying the same as in the pics?

turbo-boy

got a bit more down, rubbed down my gear box (which took ages) and give it a few coats of paint. i got my gear box mount powder coated so no need to paint. i also rubbed down my rocker cover and painted it white, when it was drying i got and idea of just splashing blue paint over it to see what it would look like.and the final thing i done was to make a brace to surport my turbo ,which bolts onto the back of the exhaust housing and to the block.i just wanted to add abit of strengh to this. you can see by the pictures of where a located this we brace.
