im just curious if anyone knows, is it like i think it is, and the ecu and all the sensors from the block can go, and the only things you have to sort out are the inlet manifold and ignition side of it ?

Depends on the engine taf, 2.0s you can get rid of 99% for carbs, but smallblock 16v's, because you cant run a dizzy you have to run management which usualy requires a few different sensors.

it's the best feeling ripping the loom out :)

use the crank sensor as a plug and llambda and go from there. Dizzy 16v engines are obviously the best to start with as that have the drive if you choose to run a dizzy. If not then its megajolt of similar which again require other bits.

yes if you're going to run a dizzy, you've got alternatives that are probably cheaper.

My dizzy set-up was £220 from H&H (dizzy (set-up), coil, amp, loom, rotar arm, cap and leads)

Pic whoring :p

ah damn its a bit more hassle and cost than i thought, gotta rig up a fuel pump and shiz as no mechanical pump. cam and dizzy issues too. hmmm, cheers chimpeh :thumb: forgot about u btw mate, the susp. and canniblized clocks.

What engine were you thinking about jimbob?

On yours it would be a case of putting a inline fuel pump and running the above stuff, altho you could run a 1600 cav mk2 (bigblock isnt it?) dizzy insted of the more expensive setup that chimp has iirc.

is that right about the dizzy ? hmmm, that'll save a few bob if so.

i was thinkin 1.6 16 possibly. thats the biggest block u can squish in a nova without modding the shell aint it ?

any idea how much weight difference there is between the 1.4 16 and the 1.6 16 ?

weight of engines is something im gonna look into more in the future, cos replacing my 1.2 for the 1.6 has made quite a difference on the handling front.

Then everything i said in the last post is useless, thats for bigblock stuff.

1600 16v's are a pain in the bum to convert due to needing management due to the coilpack rather than dizzy, and theres no way to run a dizzy.

So your talking a few hundred quid for that alone.

Theres barly any noticeable weight differace between the 1.4 and 1.6 16v's.

And yes that engine you can fit without touching the chassis leg or anything, Come on taf you know ive fitted one and you have me on msn lol

What i was about to say lol, If you saw the engine bay of my nova you would be very good to tell its a 1.4 lol

easiest... Is small block 1.6 8v. Run a 1.4sr dizzy which is cheap :) You could also run a 1.6 gte ignition system and mod that.

as said, small block xe = manangement

c20xe you can run a mk2 cav dizzy and coil etc, but hard to pick up for cheap money. I went with a pre-set dizzy, atleast i know the advance curve.
