You could fit an f10 5 speed (from an SR/SRi) or an f13 from a 1.6. They would all be bolt on. (might need the clutch/fly wheel from the 5 speed car but dont quote me on that)
Wouldnt make it any faster top speed, but might make it pick up quicker (but not much!)
May also give you better economy, but depends on ratios, which I cant remember.

fitting a 1.3 carb with the f10 5 speed would be very nippy.

F13 WR would be best for 70mph. 4/5 speed f10s wont make much differance at all.

the f13cr from the gte is a straight swap.... but the top gear is exactly the same as the 1.2 f10 4speed. so you get 1 extra gear to play with on the way to top...

basically it will make it slower 0-60, cos you need 1 extra gearchange....

it will struggle to pull a f13wr top gear up the road.

yeh like mowgli says, its prety poitnless changing the box on that engine.

changing the final drive is prob your best best. a longer one for more acceleration, or a shorter one for more top speed. the gains come with a loss tho, if u go acceleration, youll loose out on top end, and vice versa.

may aswell just stop with the 4 speed to save hassle of droping gear box thenm ?

if you are planning to fit a bigger engine at some point in the future, then you can fit a 5 speed f13, but as we have pointed out, there is no magic performance gains from it with a 1.2
