that was the spec we beleaved it to have and that he paid £1600 for which is fair money.

we took it to get set up and on 0.9 bar it made 160bhp and 175lbft which wernt bad but abit low imo. anywho we got it home and the fun began. after a day of having it the clutch started slipping like fook and a couple of oil leaks appeared. so a phone call to the bloke we bought it off and he agreed to send him a new clutch.

all good we thought so we proceeded to drop the engine and box as this would be the easiest way to do it imo, this is where the fun began. on removing it we found this list of faults

3 bolts missing from the gearbox to the engine.
Only one bolt holding the equal length driveshaft set up and that was loose
All the wiring just twisted together and taped
Cross member just cut and bashed, not "done properly" as we were told
Standard brakes
No new shocks on the back
Completely standard head, cam and inlet
Standard turbo
Bodged up not custom exhaust
Standard bottom end
Standard clutch
Standard 1.3 gearbox
Radiator and fan not fixed in at all

im sure there was more but i cant remember. anywho so a call back to who we bought it off and a day of fooking about but he eventually got £500 back :d

so basically we have now stripped it and started again properly so new post for new chaptor

so we are basically starting with a bare filthy engine bay

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/sclurgess/mk2%20turbo/S7303223.jpg

we were originally gonna go for a quick clean up, this soon turned into a full strip down and de-sealer job lol

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/sclurgess/mk2%20turbo/S7303228.jpg

now on removing the battery tray we found it had gone rather thin underneight so i chopped it out and lobbed in some new metal

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/sclurgess/mk2%20turbo/S7303235.jpg

cross member cut out and boxed in propely

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/sclurgess/mk2%20turbo/S7303234.jpg

then on with some filler primer

due to the amount of power hes hoping to achieve the standard intercooler had to go. ive always been a fan of chargecoolers and being as hes trying to keep the stealth look this seemed the best way to go. i found a ford focus rs set up on the bay and won it for £110. bargain!! when we got there however we discovered this thing is huge lol and i had serious doubts as to wether it would fit.

so we bolted in the rad and made room for the charger cooler rad in front of it, that was the easy bit. the actually chargecooler unit was the tricky bit. due to the size there was only one place for it to go, so bolted on the gearbox and tiebar and the mocked up a bracket and shes in, just lol

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/sclurgess/mk2%20turbo/S7303238.jpg

replated the cut out for the turbo fan

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/sclurgess/mk2%20turbo/S7303239.jpg

front panel cut out nice and neatly instead of hacked
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/sclurgess/mk2%20turbo/S7303240.jpg

my bracket and modified chassis leg for the pipework
http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/sclurgess/mk2%20turbo/S7303241.jpg

and then we finally got it all in primer ready for paint tomorrow

Nice project mate, my mate who welded my nova has a mint xr2, and I do mean mint, still got the cvh but on 45s and all stripped out etc..

How much work is it to get a 2.0 in there?

burgo
11-08-09, 11:42 PM
2L bottom end is a piece of piss to be honest. altho i only know about turbo'd versions. basically you buy a de-comp plate from ferriday which blocks the un-needed oil ways. then buy the required head bolts and breather blank from ebay and jobs done

3 bolts missing from the gearbox to the engine. - rubbish
Only one bolt holding the equal length driveshaft set up and that was loose - never took the box out so rubbish
All the wiring just twisted together and taped - told you the wiring needed sorting
Cross member just cut and bashed, not "done properly" as we were told - all the member needed and still strong
Standard brakes - got the pictures of fitting the xr2 brakes so rubbish
No new shocks on the back - only said it had new fronts and rears were near new wen i got car
Completely standard head, cam and inlet - complete rubbish, was a stage3 head, ports were huge and smooth
Standard turbo - rubbish, turbo technics stage 1 turbo(turbo technics cant confirm that by a part number, turbo has to be dismatled, already asked em)
Bodged up not custom exhaust - told you it was a FRST sytem modded to fit therefore custom
Standard bottom end - if .5 oversize forged pistons and balanced crank and rods is standard then ok
Standard clutch - valeo stage 1 organic
Standard 1.3 gearbox - told you that when you picked it up and you said fine
Radiator and fan not fixed in at all - fan was bolted into the front panel rad pipes kept rad in place

im sure there was more but i cant remember. anywho so a call back to who we bought it off and a day of fooking about but he eventually got £500 back :d

offered you a full refund but you said you needed to use to car this week but as i see its in bits, lying little fooker,

at end of the day, you paid for a car before having a proper look at it, i can get proof of all the work done yet im still waiting for the proof of this aparent "standard" engine, i dnt want nothing signed by a mot tester either, i want an engineers report with bore sizes, piston part numbers, port sizes valve sizes etc.... you can slag the car off all you like but like i told you before the engine was bought by me from a trader, he is willing to stand up in court to hold his end, so there obviously something amiss since it left my house, wen u got here i tiold you about the clutch, it wasnt leaking as much oil as u stated either, in fact there are no oil marks at all here, and the rolling road guy said with a better clutch and cooler that will do 200bhp easy. Like ive said, engineers report to prove or get ure own clutch,

i was very reasonable with you untill i saw this thread, i will say what ive said 200 times, it was as described apart form the bits i told you about when you was here, what happened since everyone believes this way is your a scammer trying to **** people over like your phony insurance claims and false insurance policies, you no doubt sold the engine "standard" engine since for more than its aparent worth so therefore cant get the engineers report i want, all just to have more money to spend on it, when you was here you said you didnt know nothing about cars and you told the rolling road operator the same thing. if you wanted a mint fiesta with super engine why look at an unfinished project, my old grey one is for sale for £3.5k he never had a complaint abotu that, and benny had the blue one after that, again he knew what was wrong with that wen he bought it. Ive said what i got to say, sorry for the childish out bursts, you will get your clutch when i recieve the engineers report,

Actually, Lets take a better look at our friend "40ies"

Interests:
Cars/Women, drivin responsably!!!lol, pissin the police off

"Cars/Women" Buying cheap and nasty cars that look ok from the outside and make alot of noise, Impresses the ladies.

"drivin responsably!!! lol" Blatant lie, These sheds on wheels he buys and sells on for large profits after fitting pov spec 250,000 bhp cossie engines are so un-roadworthy they are impossible to drive "responsably"

"Pissin the police off" Well known to the police for driving around in cars that are hanging and often attempting to leave them in his 250,000 bhp cossie powered look-a-like XR2 Fiesta's.

Occupation:
Driver

"Driver" Buying cars from scrap yards, Driving them home and painting them with homebase emulsion and rattle cans, Claim they have 160+ bhp and sell them for less than what it should go for.

Drives::
changes weekly lol

"Changes weekly lol" Changes weekly due to many things,

Not being able to drive properly due to bits falling off the car as they plod along at 40 mph (Top speed)

Selling scrapper on for a huge profit after lieing to the buyer and claiming they are rust freee MONSTORS!!!!!

Police takeing them off of him.

at end of the day, you paid for a car before having a proper look at it, i can get proof of all the work done yet im still waiting for the proof of this aparent "standard" engine, i dnt want nothing signed by a mot tester either, i want an engineers report with bore sizes, piston part numbers, port sizes valve sizes etc.... you can slag the car off all you like but like i told you before the engine was bought by me from a trader, he is willing to stand up in court to hold his end, so there obviously something amiss since it left my house, wen u got here i tiold you about the clutch, it wasnt leaking as much oil as u stated either, in fact there are no oil marks at all here, and the rolling road guy said with a better clutch and cooler that will do 200bhp easy.

Ive said what i got to say, sorry for the childish out bursts, you will get your clutch when i recieve the engineers report,

so what were we supposed to do?? strip the engine before we bought it to see if it had done what it was supposed to have done?

i think you need to do abit of research as to what an engineers report is. when you do you'll find someone who is MOT critificated is an engineer

whilst there you said nothing about the clutch and i can only take your word for there being no oil patches there.

the rolling road guy could only go off your claimed spec, if it had have been that spec then yes it should see 200bhp easily.

also you are speaking to luke not nick, indeed yes nick doesnt know much about cars hence why he brought me. i do know plenty enough thanks.

i dont quite know how you have worked out that im a scammer but i have a very good reputation of being a decent and honest person. we have not sold the engine, if i had how the hell did i get those pics today??

its funny how i have been contacted by other people saying how there sorry to hear that we got done over by you and if they had known that we were interested then they would have warned us off as your a renowned bodge artist.

Whatever happened to buyer beware? I do think you have been shafted Luke, however, surely an inspection of the exhaust and front brakes would have revealed the true extent of the mods before you paid for it, it does seem too cheap for the alleged mods, didn't that occur to you?

Top work so far.

shame its a ford  and shame you have been shafted but its half and half in my eyes, you took someone who knows cars very well but still went ahead with buying it when its clear 50% of it is not as it seams without having to take it apart would make many people walk away, its good to catch scammers out but you did buy it at end of day i take it was sold as seen or have i missed the advert somewhere ?

one for the courts let them decided as the seller is willing and maybe he has good reason to ?? most people will faver a well known member but it is still possible a well known and normally very helpful honest member could be a scammer, got it wrong and made a mistake ?

but hey good work like always be nice to see how it turns out in the end :thumb:

burgo
14-08-09, 12:08 AM
i see no sign of sold as scene on the receipt!!!

and one thing i am not is a scammer. you can see from the pics i am telling the truth

ever since the start of this, at the end of the day if there was nothing wrong with the car we wouldnt of had to call him.

to be honest i feel sorry for his business partner as dave is the nicest bloke me mate nick has spoke to and just wants the hassle sorted, as do we. hopefully james will come round to that way of thinking aswell

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/sclurgess/mk2%20turbo/S7303303.jpg

and then i was going to port match it, this is where i discovered it wasnt a turbo head and actually an xr2i head!!!!

which means porting time :d

we then had to modify the front panel more to move the rads abit further forward. we also had to undo the back gearbox mount to get the turbo in

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/sclurgess/mk2%20turbo/S7303321.jpg

with that in the actuator was pretty much in the rad still lol. so i had to "modify" the actuator bracket and it all "just" fits. can see the need for uprated engine mounts and an engine damper tho

anywhos not exactly great pics but this is of the only wiring coming to the engine which will be hidden by the inlet manifold

now you might notice its a tad loud, this is where the fun began. started by checking all the exhaust studs, check turbo to manifold and downpipe bolts. try again and still the same, hmmmm confuzzled.

this is when we discover that the manifold is up against one of the bolts which bolts on the breather blanking plate  not good. to remove this bolt and insert a shallow head allen bolt we had to do the following

undo the drivers side mount
undo the rear gearbox bolts
lossen the front one
push the engine back slightly
undo the oil return hose
undo a water hose
undo all the exhaust studs and then with a tiny little 8mm spanner undo the fooking bolt

so then fit the little allen bolt and bolt everything back together and we have clearence on the bolt. must be ok now then :), start it up, still a tractor:confused: fook.

this is where i discover the manifold is up against a little sticky out bit on the block!!! bollocks, cue the above procedure to remove the turbo so i can get the grinder in to trim back the sticky outy bit. ground down all bolted up clearence on the block woop. try again deffinetly sorted now

http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/sclurgess/mk2%20turbo/th_S7303333.jpg (http://s12.photobucket.com/albums/a226/sclurgess/mk2%20turbo/?action=view&current=S7303333.flv)

ahhhhhh feck feck feck feck. now it clears the pissing block it is now up against the fooking allen bolt again!!!!!!! ****. time to scrap the crappy pissy blanking plate and get a core plug. that will be saved for tomorrow

Oh nice, thats some low milage, quite partial to mk2 fiestas, got a couple of mates with them, seen a really decent spec 2.0 duratec turbo track machine at a testing day once, was absolutely flying! Get a W.I.P thread on your fiestas on here, theres a few ford nuts on here :thumb:
