is the thicker brown the earth lead as on the mark 1 it is screwed to the body so i take it , it is earth and is the thin yellow wire the live ?

Yes that sounds about right, iirc the yellow wire should run to the heater/fan speed switch as there is a spare terminal on there which holds live for the radio, thats how they got around not having a loom set up for a radio when they retro fitted them as a dealer option!

cheers spud , someone had a goodmans headunit wired in and it was botched badly , ive stripped all the wires down but all i have for the mark 1 radio loom is a brown and yellow wire , tizz a bit confusing lol
