im 19 and with an insurance company caled footman james, my car is a 1986 nova "1.2" in my own name tptf 281quid. when i first passed at 17 it was 408quid. i live in west yorkshire. its insured with a classic car policy with limited miles but the never ask so say 1500miles. better than paying some ridiculous premium and you get european breakdown free and angel assistance (just like being fully comp with out windscreen cover) dont use internet ring them up it will be well worth it

what about mods/convictions ? do they cover them ?

dazz4
11-08-09, 02:49 AM
mmm, i think so, convictions they do not to sure with mods. depends what they are, i know they cover your sound system and a stainless exhaust isnt a mod its a longlife exhaust.

Thats great. Til you have an accident and they check your last MOT record (and believe me on such a low mileage policy as that, they will) and see you're 5,000 miles or whatever over your limit and demand a further £2k policy price or withdraw your insurance lol

Footman James are pretty good though. A lot of the yank muscle owners use them.

I'm inclined to agree looking at 'Previous Posts' and spying a 1.2 engine for sale.

And a request for a 32/34 carb.

Fishy fishy

lol why be economical with the truth (reading the above it appears you have!) when it comes to insurance. It WILL bite you in the a55.

I doubt they believe you will run a Nova without an agreed valuation on a very limited mileage classic policy honestly. lol

1500 miles made me LOL! Should have said 5K for realisim if you're going to BS. :/ Which you shouldn't for the above reasons!

Plus if you're a new driver, and thats your only car, 1500 miles is going to be very suspect. Doing low mileage on a second car at least would look legitimate lol

Do you earn NCB with them as well btw? I'm sure you don't accrue it on their classic policies... fella I know with an old Celica who I'm pretty certain is covered by them on a classic policy doesn't

when someone crashed into me before they didint take mileage and said if i go over just to notify at the end of the year and yes it is legit and you cant tell my engine is anything different as its only 1.3, no stupid mods. my mate said 6k on his mileage when he first passed at 17 and it was 500quid.

its probably my 4th car with them, you do earn no claims bonuses but you cant use them with other companies as its a special policy like a traders policy.

But your still lying!

Does the engine code match the V5???

Not declaring mods makes your insurance invalid!

Its people like you that cause premiums to rise!

Grade A Cunnt!

You cant tell the differance between a 1.2 and a 1.3?

Have I missed something, why bother paying 292 quid?

Your not insured anyway?

You seem to find it good to give novas a bad name?

Classic insurance companies are generally run by people in the know, so when your car goes in for examination they will laugh!

And a stainless exhaust is non oem, some as long life brake pads, long life oil, long life of your nova??

dazz4
11-08-09, 11:41 AM
i havent got a stainless exhaust but thats what they said, same with a k&n air filter. anyway i was only saying i know of a cheap insurance company as most novas are over 20years old..... my car will be getting registered as a 1.3 but its still not runing right so may 1.2 put back in.

Long life??

Kids today!

Im 17 and have more sense!

Í dont condone driving a modified car on standard insurance, but if you have to, dont advertise it on a public ´forum´ because theres at least 2 insurance companies that look on here regular!

Not a good idea to advertise it on a pulic forum agreed BUT we (Sky Insurance) are not here to catch anyone out.. it's down to you if you don't disclose mods.. We wont be checking up on anyone :thumb:

Its not bollox fella. I (Ollie) am the only person in my company who deals with the club forums. I am a modified car enthusiast. I have never been asked to check up on modifications, I would have serious objections if I was asked to do it. In fact I would probably tell them to feck off and find someone else to do the job. Also, we (Sky Insurance - the broker) have nothing to gain by finding customers with undisclosed modifications.

There has been two instances in the last 3 years I have been working here where we have been informed anomalously that one of our car club member customers have not disclosed modifications.. this is the onyl time we would act.

i would just like to add that im currently not insured as car is off the road whilst i finish engine conversion, so feel free to ring my insurance as ive not renewed with them yet, but when i find a carb and it is on the road then it will be insured and registered as a 1.3. i no i said too much info but when im not insured with them it doesnt matter, i cant see what im doing wrong.
