oil breather designs

is there any benefit from having the oil breather rigged to the cam cover like 1.6 and larger engines ?

im thinking about converting mine to the canister design due to a carb/inlet/airbox design i plan to use, but wondering if it might mess anything up on the engine design side ?

Im slighty confused but usualy the way to put it into a bottle is the one that comes from the cam cover to the airbox. Thats the most ideal way anyway.
