just wondering if i'm alone here or not. do most of the people you know (that have no respect) go on about how much money/time you spend on your nova. i constantly get "you spend more money on that car than what you paid for it"

"its only a nova"
"just a stereo on wheels"

etc etc.

hate it when people have digs and the nova!

doesnt bother me cus a know ma car has the capability to shaft all theres but still..........

locky, save up and get urself a LET under the bonnet, then ask the celica lads for a race!
seriously thoug people, ignore the smart arse comments from other gimps, theres a lot worse things we could be doin than modifying cars.

Locky my sisters ex bloke worked for Toyota and he owned a mint Celica and i used to kick his ass everytime in my standard GSi, he had a little more top end but never raced him on straight roads so he never won. 0-60 though is easy as they are sooo heavy.

I get loads of stick from friends and family! they all say the same "all that money uve spent, you could of got a proper car" the worst thing about it though is having a 1.2i under the bonnet, you cant realy blow any one away, unless there 5 up and the nova's running on rocket fuel!!!! :D

I don't mind people taking the piss, as it's apersonal choice.

But most of the time, i agree with them, and think 'what the fuck am i doing spending all this money on a nova!? I could have a 'decent' car'.

I get a fair bit of stick from work. Theres a couple of guys that are into there cars, one with an MX5 and one with a Saab Turbo. They constantly go on about my Nova and say how slow it is. I don't mind them slagging it off, because I know it'll destroy them both in a race.

My family have never really been into me modding my car, but my older brother now respects what I've done and appreciates how fast it is. I think he might be worried that I'll beat his 5.7l Corvette at Santa Pod :D

My younger brother has never been into my car, but over Christmas he said how I should keep it as a second car and never get rid of it, which was cool of him to say.

I took my dad out for a spin at the weekend and he was saying to my mum how incredible it was, lol.

So I suppose all the comments that my friends and family have made about it are soon dismissed when they realise how much work has gone into it and what the car is capable of.

My car also holds a certain amount of sentimental value, my Uncle bought it from new and sold it to me about 4 years ago. My uncle passed away a few years back, so I want to keep the car in as good a condition as possible. I was worried at one point that he might have dissaproved with what I had done to his standard 1.4SR, but my mum said out of most of the family, he'd be one of the people outside giving me a hand with the car, which was cool of her to say.

In the end we all have our own tastes, it might not be to other peoples tastes, but so what? As long as we're happy with what we've achieved, then isn't that all that matters?

Just agree with others that when u spend a few grand on your car and then something that you did fcuks up! :bad-word: You think "why am I bothering and just wanna sell the fcuker!"

lmao at marty i feel like that every now and then but soon change my mind.

My mates dont like novas but do like be scared to death when they get in it, there all kind of inrested whats going to happen to it next. (most think hitting a wall)

All my mum says is why do you need three cars the garden looks a mess and why have you got 2 sets of seats in your bedroom!

?Marty?

nice one ben!

I change my mind and thing sod it, 'i'll just take it a bit furter'. As the more you spend, the closer it gets to 'the ideal car(or Nova)', so you just think i'm losing all this money anyway, so i may as well lose a little bit more but have what i wanted  .

Most of my mates take the piss (though they don't have ANYTHING better), but most of them are impressed when i talk to them individually.

Oh and i have a huse FULL of parts too! Though it's all the bodywork stuff, which should be going on pretty soon. Otherwise i don't like 'clutter'.

Lol, thanx 4 the advice guys, but i had a choice of an engine and i figured the 1.6 8v was the best option 4 me! easy 2 fit, and tunable! hez gona b goin to a rwyb day soon, hez about 40 odd yrs old lol, (no offence 2 u CP!) so il see him there! just funny 2 see how much he goes on about it lol im not bothered at all tbh, the other lads think my car is wonderful!

i think most people respect some of the faster novas as they know what there capable of, like my car its pretty much standard but turns heads where ver ikgo (main due to the colour) and im always getting comments about my car like the other day some bloke said my nova was well clean i think its the older generation who dont like me doing up my car( like my dad who moans when ever i wash it although i wash it about every 2 weeks! :P ) even my mate who have ful time jobs so they can afford brand new cars like my car (some off them had novas too) but at the end of they day its your car who gives a fuck whetherkpeople like it or not its yours and nobody can take it away from u! (unless u have luminated washer jets and valve caps that light up you should be shot on the spot and be made to drive in a ford fiesta 1.1 all your life)

LOL - if I've heard all the above once I've heard it 1,000 times (literally).

My missus HATES my car so much che'd rather get the train to work that get in it (its a death trap) yet she's NEVER had a crash in it or been involved in one in it (unlike hers!)

She also thinks its insane to throw "good money after bad!" on "that thing"

We drove about 150 miles today to get out in the country for a bit and she gripped the seat and the door arm all the way until her knuckles were white! (I was averaging 95 most of the time mind :D ) - said bacause lots of bits currently rattle feels like its gonna collapse around her - the brakes are too soft (you can see he pushing her foot into the floor pretending to break) and the steering wheel shakes (which is rubbish)

My neighbours come out with the "you'll polish the paint off that thing - whats the point!

At the end of the day I just go "Ha - yeah (sarky chuckle) and ignore it - most of the cars my m8's drive are sheds and look like sh1te - at least mine stands out and gleams.

They have there hobbies - I have my nova

Game over...

My girlfriend does exactly the same Ade. Even when I'm driving her 1.1 Metro. It's funny, but gets annoying when you see her foot hitting an imaginary brake pedal all the time. I would understand if I was flooring it, but she even does it when braking from 30mph, LOL.

Yep. I get the imaginary foot break and the clutching at the door handles bit too.
