View Full Version : Tyre reccomendations
Morning all, im after some recomendation for some good fast road tyre's, i tend to personally go for Toyo Proxes T1r's, religiously. Do any of you know of an equally good - if not better tyre for a better price?

Ive got Yoko Parada spec II's. I know they arent in the size you want but they are awesome.
Kumho KU31's... they be cheap and the nuts! :D
I dont rate parada's, ok in the dry but terrible in the wet.
Those Kumho KU31s are awesome and cost less than Nankangs! lol
I was seriously impressed with them around Donnington and Combe

road use?? i was going to start a thread about this.. what the handle like in the wet??
Avoid yoko s-drives, they're poo!
I think that smcgsi16v ran 888s on his corsa in the damp/wet and said they were ok.
lots of vx folks use 888's for road use + wet.... in standing they suck balls, but in damp-> wet they are "ok"

hmm just "ok" ahh well.
well you have to be very aware that you are on a limited tread pattern and that the tyre needs heat to work at its best. Which the wet will limit at it cools the rubber. Maybe that awareness makes them push less hard lol
This is going to be for day to day useage so R888's haven't got the lifespan/practicality i need on the car. Anybody else got views on these Khumos? They sound a winner.
I use KU31's daily on the plastic skip. they are ace (nice limited grip tyre for track too). Ad has used them at Combe and Donny on the nova and did fapping well on them :d

cheaper about just need to keep looking
try your local kumho tyre dealer too... I found they were about £2 a tyre more than most of the postal companies, but they also fitted them for that price rather than the £5-10 a tyre fitting cost for brigning in your own supply
Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3 x4 - £184. Excellent tyres IMO.

Kumho KU31s (http://www.tyredrive.co.uk/shopping_cart.php?tyreCsid=039f9b3879f478d1b52415b 1d7b29783)
£158.84 delivered ;)
bet you could get an acutal tyre fitter place that is a kumho dealer to supply AND fit for that price. Rather than adding £20-40 extra for fitting that lot too
Black circles have KU31s for £51.85 each, less club discount on that too
Lots of places trade on ebay with kumhos, place that used to fit my Falkens on the Cerrika is a Kumho dealer

Yes I have been using them on the road, they grip really well and also in the wet but when you come to standing water its a bit all over the place, apart from that there fine.:thumb:

Now then, they are cheaper than said £158 delivered lol and i have someone who will fit my tyres as favour for favour, or £10 max! Think i'll be ordering them off ebay.

Just watch what you are doing on ebay, I have herd there are a few batches of Eagle F1's that a company has made and they are fake the side walls give in, and there is alot of roll and that is to do with the side walls being made of different rubber.:thumb:
Make sure you get the correct code numbers on the tyres.
They're from the same company that i use frequently for my proxes so i trust them t be fine.
