Hi all,

Regretably the red XE Nova MOT is looming so i've decided its too far gone to save it and reshelling a Nova is an expensive game nowadays if you want a decent shell.

Had a look at a couple of Clio 172's but they were both dogs and not in the best of shape at all.

Ended up buying this, a mk3 Nova if you like. Only got a couple of pictures after giving it a wash, needs a few bits doing to it but its one of the tidiest GSi shells i've seen for a while. Desperately needs a new bonnet though.

Very brief spec is:

XE conversion
Coilovers
15" Astra Sport wheels
V6 brakes

Opinions welcome.

Spit Spit Spit lol In all fairness it's the best colour for a Corsa. Looks pretty tidy.

Still going to have a Nova as well so not all bad news, just one less Nova.

Drives quite nicely, more comfy than the Nova and it also has power steering, I must be getting old!!

It's nice, you'll get a lot of chav though attention haha

I test drove a Corsa for a bird yesterday i thought it had power steering but he said it didn't so they're lighter than Novas

Looks nice Lee, corsa's FTMFW.

You will have to get it up to York to see if the engine is as fast as the one in the nova. If its not i can feel a engine change coming on?

Looks a very tidy motor, nice.
Does it seem much/any slower than the red nova???

Bonnet has some sort of rust disease all over it, like its been painted badly and reacted, never seen one like it before.

Hard to say performance wise, feels quicker than I expected the heavier Corsa to but its got a very lumpy idle so think it might have had a cam change. Feels a lot more stable and safer than the Nova.

Yep you really notice the extra width of the corsa in comparison to the nova.

Went to Wakefield to view the 172 and it had had the worst respray ever, full of sanding and scratch marks. Didn't feel much better to drive either and the radiator then burst. Offered me it for £400 less but thought better of it.

I used to think that and said i've never change to a Corsa but when you take the sideskirt off and the rear arch and sill comes off with it I think its time to call it a day.

Will be gutted to see it go, best XE Nova i've ever had.

Looks ok lee, apart from those astra rims, but i'm sure you'll sort that out. How much did you pay if you don't mine me asking?

Lee H
09-08-09, 10:48 PM
It feels more refined than the Nova but probably not as quick, handles better though and is a bit quieter. Doubt it'll be going on the strip any time soon as needs a few bits sorting i'm not happy with and got no free time until September now with college.

Astra rims are staying, I really like them. PM on way John.

Yeah is this not the one thats supposed to have had a full engine rebuild and uprated cams? Said that in the advert?

Lee H

Supposed to have but doesn't even have the motorsport shafts so not convinced.

Engine coming out asap anyway for the Nova one to go in.

Nothing new there then lol

Just putting a list of the red car together for breaking, you'll notice your parts aren't on it.
