Would a 20xe Fit into a Mk1 Phs2 Clio?

Fitted in muppet as its exaclty that and i keep pondering if its poss or not.

Engine mounts would need to be welded into place on the clio chassis legs, which shafts would It would either have to have cut and welded shafts to used the clio sus or a full setup retro fitted from something else.

Posted for a bit of funn but could it work?????

Its been done, but i cant remember jack **** about it.

Id presume shafts would be custom jobbies.

LMFBO did a quick google search and it came up with:

TBH mate I come from a vauxhall background and a stock clio 16v is far better than a xe nova (even when nova is on half decent suspension) ...

/\ usual response!

Tbh a Williams would make a better car than a 20Xe powered Clio, but lets face it, will take minimal abuse before something gives up.

My guess is it will fit in, though will prolly need a powercap, custom exhaust to mate to the XE manifold & the shafts I'd cut & shut (weld tbh) done properly they ought to last.

Anything can be done fella, hell if it'll go into a cinq it'll go into one of these. Custom shafts and exhaust as craig says.

PMSL, I know i've had one and destroyed the bugger pmsl It was an option of putting an xe into the williams shell before i broke it and scrapped the bugger. But meh... our lass has a 1.2 RL which will be well a toy shortly, Might just take it on track as a 1.2 pmsl.

id say it wouldnt be that hard actually, you might have a problem with the gearbox clearing the chassis leg, wiring and all wouldnt be that bad if your going to have a stripped out car for track, your only problem will be the shafts id say, there a big enough engine bay prob a wee bit bigger than a nova, would be well worth a try me thinks, would easier finding a cleaner clio shell than nova one anyway

Track it, Put some bonkers spec brakes & coilovers on it.

It'll go all day without missing a beat.

umm, i think if it was a serious one i would opt for an f4r over the v6. Would sound rather nice mind.

Have a PPC mag with a Clio with a 1.8T VW/Audi lump in it. More tuneable and more good lumps about. Unless you have your heart set on an XE and want the challenge I guess!
