Right took my car to the MOT after it has bin sitting in my garage for da past couple of years!

They examioned the car HARD and in the end found 2 problems which failed the car (i was expecting it)

Firstly the rear passenger side wheel was binding and secondly exessivly corroded brake pipes :x

NOw what could cause the rear wheel to bind and how hard is it to change the brake pipes?

THe garage quoted ?180 for parts labour and MOT cost!

Is that good

Cheers

the rear wheel binding will only be somethin small probly the rear shoes rnt returning properly remove the rear drum and give the drums a good clean with some emory paper and make sure the shoes r moving properly and that the hand brake is returning give them a good clean with brake cleaner then adjust them up u will see the adjuster its a small wheel adjust it till the drum lightly rubs on the shoes... do the same on the other side as well.....
as 4 the brake pipe remove the old 1 but first clamp of the pipe at the flexie part of it use mole grips then take it to ur local motor factors get the to make 1 4 u then re fit and bleed them up...... hey presto uve got a 12 months mot and it shouldnt cost u more than 30 in bits and a bit of time nothin hard about it good luck pal...
hope this has helped...

?180 is mental - shop around. i got new lines fitted for ?50.

As for rear brake binding like wannabe says, prob find that when you losen the handbrake, the bables not returning coz its just seazed with age. Can fit new ones easy (follow haynes) - again no more than ?50 tops (cable kit from halfords for both sides is only ?15).

Remove rear wheel and check the greese on the cable section (you'll see it run through a groove into the brake drum). Remove drum and just free it manually.

Worst case, the pistin could be seized but take it to a brakes specialist and get them to do it for ya.
