Hi all. Ive been into the impreza/evo scene over the past 4 years. Circumstances have change somewhat and ive decided on getting a car i can have fun with on the track. Id be looking for a 2.0 16v Nova in good nick. What sort of money would id be looking at spending?

Cheers. Dan.

Anything from £500 - £3,000! Depends on what you're looking for really, do you want something thats ready to jump in and get on track, or would you rather start with one thats a simple suspension/engine/brakes done and add your own touch to get it to track spec?

I'd be wary of spending under a grand on one tbh; £1-1500 should see you good. ~£2k will be modified territory, over that and you're looking at the top quality and top spec cars.

What about building one yourself?

Have you ever owned a Nova before? Do you know what to look out for regarding rust and rot? (Basically everywhere)

Id ideally want one with the 2.0 16v allready in it. And go from there really. When i was younger i had a 1.3sr,1.4sr and a GSI, used to think they were great. I appreciate the cars not new but i dont want one that is going to be costing me a fortune. As a whole are they pretty reliable? I was looking to spend around £1500.

IMHO standard there reliable enough 2.0 16v if your lucky they can be but there not the worst and i agree with R.J be very weary if it's cheap.

for track use ignore most of the mods aside from things like Brakes, GOOD suspension (ie not gmax/jamex/£200 ebay specials), and the rest will do the job fine.

not bad.Dan on here is running a lower spec engine but has spent more time on the handling and some ubar wide wheels.
Not seen it on track in the flesh yet but he has told me it was going well even to the point of to much grip as it was lifting the inside front wheel.
