This is how it looked over 6 months ago when i bought it. And it's pretty much how it looks now !
However, Plans have been decided and money shall be spent soon. Here is a brief breakdown...
1600 T40 , Once i fix my Rod-through block issue.
Inside and out in mini Pepper White
Custom Cage, with Diagonals and welded through to front struts.
Turretted rear end
Coilovers
2 Seats
Snowplough front end & Some rare mk1 exterior goodies i've aquired.
Outcome will be a functional but retro-chique track car
Watch this space...

I remember the pics as i was there taking the car apart lol.
i shall be watching this ;)
Nice plans Nick, will keep eye see how it comes out!
Whats Pepper White?
ahhh, wondered where this had gone! predominantly a track car then?
John H
Yes, most definitely 100% track-car. However, I'm trading some architectural work for fabrication/body work with a friend. So essentially i have the ability to do what i like with a cage/paint.... It'd be rude not to make it look cool !
Plus, it's not like i can fit an interior anyway !

This is pepper white !
Think it'l go well on a retro styled Mk1. Plus the engine bay might end up being solid deep/dark red.....
Roight... Finally been back home to do some bits and bobs !

Carbs, inlet, Facet all off. Going to rebuild the carbs over the next few weeks and freshen up the manifold e.t.c

Picture of the offending con-rod . Can also see the manky emulsion on Cyl 3 where it took a little drinky drink.

looking VERY sorry for itself . This was actually my first car, so it's sad times for me.

:(.
Anyway. Onwards and upwards...
Hopefully i will be picking up an Early bootlid, Bonnet, Wings and one peice front .
Also hopefully aquiring a cage at the end of the month. Plans for the cage are...
Standard 6 Point job.
X Welded into rear
Strut bar welded into rear
Diagonals welded from B Pillar uprights into exhaust tunnel.
Triangulated and boxed into front struts.
Tag-box it into the A/B pillars and hole saw it where applicable.
Whilst doing that we're going to turret the rear end. Replace/improve some of the poor welding that's present in the shell.
Remove the Seat bars as the box section is too thin, and it looks suspiciously like old office table legs !
It's going to be a busy month or so !
Sounds like its going to be quite a serious cage setup!!!!
Yeah, going to be a bit of a monster cage...
I'm trading some architectural work for the cage and welding, so it's all free and limitless really !
There are numerous things that need re-doing in the shell, well... alot more than i thought.
- Inner arches need some attention where they have been bashed with a hammer for tyre clearance
- Seat brackets/mounts need to be actually removed rather than having the faces sheared off.
- Seat bars do appear to be old office table legs. Too thin, will re-do .
- As part of the seat bar job, going to actually remove the standard seat rails from the exhaust tunnel and tidy up the gear linkage area
- Bulkhead chop needs tidying
- a couple of areas of welding are going to be re-done.
Picked up some parts today, will get some pics asap.
