gone to replace the top mount on my astra van, the kit i got was a one piece suspension mounting kit, it was a rubber mushroom shaped mount which sits on top of the suspension with a securing bolt then all thats left is a threaded end which is fed up through the turret to be secured by a metal plate with another bolt

after replacing the metal plate which sits on TOP of the turret is now sitting about 2cm higher than the other plate on the other side of the van,

have i not bought a full kit?

it goes strut---spring---(metal dome shaped cup which is NOT symetrical, is this right?!)---new top mount---securing bolt---turret---metal fixing plate---bolt

any helps appreciated, thanks very much!

if anyone here has an astra G could they just check if there is any space between the turret and the plate?

i might be barking up the wrong tree, but why don't you just look at the one on the other side????

i have done mowgli, and its a good simple suggestion BUT the previous owner to me (who by each day becomes more apparent was a :tosser:) had 'modified' the top mounts so the securing nut slips through them about half way..... stupid stupid stupid,

so both sides are dodgey making neither one a suitable base to judge the one by!

its not dangerous what they have done as there is yet another nut and plate securing on top, the only difference you can't drop the strut out with the spring compressed which on a vehicle with standard suspension would be mega dangerous but on lowering springs is not an issue (i hope i have got that right)

thanks for the reply! ive had a couple of ideas about what im going to do, i don't like posting astra questions on here (believe it or not as i do it all the time) but you lot are more usefull than any other vaux forum i have used!

thanks again
