Hey man,
If you're a beginner and want to learn songs by tablature, check out www.ultimate-guitar.com (http://www.ultimate-guitar.com)
There is some good quality tabs on there to most songs and it's a good way to learn songs when yo're a beginner.
If you're looking for equipment, check out www.guitarampkeyboard.com (http://www.guitarampkeyboard.com)
It's a shop in Brighton but that is their online store, the sell guitars that range from beginners to masters and very good prices, i buy all my stuff from there.
As for advice and tips, just use youtube. There's endless videos teaching different techniques and styles.
Hope this helps mate :thumb:

as stated by srnova. ultimate guitar is a great site for tabs,
they also have forums, i wouldnt suggest posting unless in the proper part as there are quite a few tools on there, well was when i was last there. you know the 16year old long hair metal freak kids, basically them, although im sure there are some nice guys too
but alot of stuff on that site to get started.
also try getting a book and play along cd, the songs on them arent masterpieces by any means but they will get you off the mark
some of the rockschool stuff would be quite good.
"rock guitar method"

although it sais rock guitar be it that you are interested in rock music or not, it gives you a great grasps of the basics to tablature, notation, chords, finger patterns, with play alongs and examples.
and have fun with your finger tips ;)

I play too, been playing about 8 or 9 years but not seriously for around 6 or so as I don't have the time. Got loads of gear too but unfortunately it never really gets used as I haven't done a gig for years!

Thanks for the web sites (I'm looking over them now) . I just want to get to a standard when I can have a good jam with a few mates using the basic chords and a few riffs... looking at either a Gibson or Fender Statocaster at the minute...

depending on money,
you cant go wrong with a stratocaster. be it proper fender ones or squier (fenders baby company)
there are the easiest to play
Yeah... I'd go with a cheap Strat (you would be suprised about how much heavy music is studio recorded with strats...Live is another matter) , but it's worth spending about £250, if you think it's something you've got the time and patience for ?
Cheap guitars are cheap for a reason - They sound ****ing ****.
Then From there i'd recomend a Vox Valvetronix of some description, best Small Combo amps for bedroom performance.
And unless your retarded, you WILL be able to be as good as your commitment allows.
P.s Don't spunk cash on a gibson ! I've only just bought an ESP (gibson money) and i've been playing for 9 years.
