Ive Been Welding For Over 10 Years And Have Never Suffered Arc Eye Because I Either Look Away When You/they Arc Up Or I Use A

MASK

ya i know what a mask is for but i just looked away and closed my eyes beacuse we only had 1 mask. i went to the chemist and got drops and they said that you are supposed to weld for a certain time then take a rest

got to be carefull of reflections too mte, any glass/metal etc the arc light bounces round and into your eyes! just like the sun and snow/water, it reflects off and gets you doubley!!!

ive had welding flash in both eyes not nice atall,i had to go the hospital as it burnt the cornea(layer of skin around the eye)i was given orange drops under a blue light to check for damage.
i was told id be ok in a few days, the following morning when i awoke my eyes were literaly shut and sore(felt like sandpaper in my eye when blinking).
also looking like a tit with a pair of sunglasses on down the boozer friday night lol

lol

I bought an instant dimming welding mask the other day - its the best investment I made! Fecking brilliant!

I spent ages though wondering how it worked - its solar powered and I thought - "but I'm in the garage - the suns not near me"

lol
