i fitted a engine in a sr yestaday the engine is out of a cav 1.6 with fule pump on head .and it just not right
sounds like its missing but the timeing is spot on and its slow as.
any one no what it could be .,:confused:

you'll be better off getting a local garage to set it up properly, you'll save time & money by doing it that way as opposed to the try & make it work at home method.....the car is now so far off standard & the carb is probably not set up for this engine, so find someone who can still do carbs & pay him

Sadly that isnt much to go on. Get it to a garage I'd say.

it come with standed carb on it was it sounded very bad

Lol, any more detailed info would be good!
We can't go off "it sounded very bad" lol How about a video of said car running?

lol. i think so mate all i know its out of a cav.
sounds like its missing and it dont go anywere when you drive it and when you drive it it pops and will not very past 6000rpm and takes it time getting there.and it will not tick over unless it at 2000rpm

Air leak? lead on the wrong way round? plugs? cambelt teeth out? Head gasket gone? (compression test done?)

no air leak.leads are right.new plugs cambelt teeth is spot on dont think head gasket gone. no compression done

I'd carry out a compression test first then. timing ok? Is the mis really bad? is so what cyl?

i will try and get the tool. timeing is ok mate thats the first thing i had a look at,
well from in the car it sound like it missing on one but from standing over the engine it dont sound like it but the engine shacks abit when on tick over.
i dont no what cyl i will have a look to moz

pull off one. start it, if it sounds the same you know what one it is.
pull off one at a time and then connect again till you find the one.

What colour are the plugs? Also are the gaps set correctly?

pulgs are abit dark but look ok .and yes:)

How long was the car stood before you put the engine in? Have you got a fuel filter on? There maybe crud left in the tank that's got through and blocked the carb. Get a empty bottle and drain some of the fuel from the return pipe to see if your fuel has gone a funny colour.

Obviously check the leads but this was just a thought.

ye i will i think im going up to garage tomorro i will try all and see what i can do. if not ill just get a new engine that i know works
