Ive just bought a MK1 4 door 1300 with a roof rack. It needs an engine and box, anyone know what else the MK1 1300 engine was fitted to so i can begin my search?
Cheers

early mk2 golfs used a 1300, theres some difference with some having solid lifters and some having hydraulic lifters.
Some early (B1 shape) Audi 80s share similar engine architecture

You can pretty much drop in anything you choose from VW, much like GM stuff. A P reg Polo lump wouldnt present a massive leap in technology other than the fuel injection setup tbh. That leaves a whole host of small engines within the age gap to choose from.

That makes a big block Nova seem sensible.

I dont dig mk1 Golfs. The VW scene has been looking tempting for ages, but I would own any mark of Golf before a mk1. Not to say I don't appreciate some of the amazing ones built, but something about them is odd IMO.

Heres the link to the lads build. It's sh1thot CLICK (http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=4192509):d
I rather like the Mk1 Golf. Small and buglike.
Mind you, I'd work my way through Jettas/Ventos and Polo Derbys before I came to a Golf though.

That build in the link is quite immense.
Fair play to the young lad.
