i have replaced my 1.0 with a 1.4 sr and iam trying to use the same wiring loom, what do i need to do to get the starter motor to work and can anyone tell me the wiring for the distributor and coil because the nova i got the engine out of was missing most of the loom not good i no can anyone help. cheers

If you keep the same alternator/starter loom from the 1.0 car, it wires in the same.
The =ve coil feed on the 1.0 loom has a resistor in the wire which needs removing in order for the coil to work.

the starter motor is different the 1.0 has 3 wires and the 1.4 has 2 and where abouts is the resistor if u no ????????

its a resistor wire no actual resistor. Sometimes it will fire, sometimes not - think it depends on car as last one I did was fine, the one before needed rewiring!
Starter motor should have 3 wires on both - pos, neg and switched

where does that coil wire track back too ? the ignition switch ?
just wants busting out and replacing with a standard copper line i guess ?

yup just replace it but that will only ensure you have a spark
for starter ensure you have two thick wires (red and black) plus the switched positive on the spade terminal iirc
