the quickest and cheapest way is to go & buy a whole pre 90 nova. it will cost you less to insure (20 years old is classic car age), it won't be a crap 1.2spi, it will be a proper mk1, and not a hybrid

classic insurance is a bummer unless your 21 ive tried for 2 years lol
but i agree if you say you love the retro look the dash is a must if your going to do it do it properly:thumb:

lol cool, yeh mowlgi the thing is that is NOT the cheapest way to do it???? if you think you cant reali pick up a nice old mk1 for under a grand. and im still in college and only have a part time at tescos. so i dont earn alot, so the cheapest way is to change the front !

time to ride a coach & horses thru your argument......

1. buy a mk1 & sell your mk2 for the same money...... how is that expensive?????
2. sticking a mk1 front end on your mk2 & then trying to get an insurance company to insure it legally for the same money????? not a chance
3. paying £200 for decent mk1 panels (including shipping costs) and then trying to get the paint matched to the lovely shade of flame pink (I know, mine is also flame pink) for at least another couple of hundred is no way cheaper than buying a mk1, and selling your mk2.

your assuming that he has enough money to buy a mk1 without selling his mk2 first though?

your assuming that he has enough money to buy a mk1 without selling his mk2 first though?if thats the case then sell his mk2 and buy a mk1 with the money!?,i have to agree with mowgli on this, although i have some mk1 bits such as wings x3(1 brand new),bonnet mk1(no badge holes, mint)erm and a ariel also from early mk1(you want retro dont ya! lol)
although follow the simple advice as stated,it makes sense)just dont rush things!)

im intrested in going the other way to you and putting a mk2 front on my mk 1. so is it only wings, headlamps, indicators, bumper and grill? or do you need the front slam panel aswell? i allways thought you needed that but i never looked into it?

lol stylesy why dont we swap then lol, your only in southampton! come here one day and we can swap lol. yeh that sounds like a good plan if i had a nice mk2, i dont think i could get £200 for it, and in the current climate i dont think its gonna happen. and my paintwork is crap so nothing will match anyway as its blemished and pink. so i am going to get a respray anyway, so i can respray the pannels aswell. also i have got 2 decent mk1 wings hopefully soon. and thats all the pannels i need reali, apart from grill.

you dont need a new front upper cropss member but you will need to drill holes so eht MK1 grill will fit into it.

Also - the headlight clips may need hols redrilling as I'm sure the position on the mk2 plate is slightly different - although not 100% on that...

Grill holes might already be there. Most slams come as a multi fit option, same for the headlight clip holes.
