I have a 1.4sri engine in the car, the loom that came with it was very complete with no chopping (very rare ;) ) i have a spare engine of the same type. The one in the car has NO MAF or the wiring for it, the spare engine has one.

im a bit confused was there a version that did not require a MAF?

im hoping the answer is yes lol as its one less thing to worry about :)

The SRi has a map sensor rather than a MAF...The only variants on the C14SE is some run a dizzy and the later ones run a dispack.

If you have an engine with an airflow meter you don't have a Nova SRi engine.

thats the answer i was looking :thumb: the loom and engine thats in the car was from a nova sri (hence no wires for the MAF :)) the spare engine is of unknown origin pos corsa or astra but deffo a C14se.

thanks for that

No worries.

AFAIK the C14SE didn't run a MAF in any of the cars it was fitted to. You got a picture?

no pic

the engine is a 1.4 8v multipoint injection with under dash ECU and coil packs it is a complete engine in every way and all original so it can only be a C14SE???? the MAF is moulded into the short pipe that goes to the airbox. i only noticed it because i took off the throttle body for cleaning, hence my question.

anyway im happy as its one less thing to go wrong :)

As phazer said, if its a c14se it wont have a MAF sensor.

Are you sure its a MAF? lol Not a intake air temp sensor or the engine is acualy somthing else (altho i cant think of any vauxhall engines that are smallblock and run that sort of MAF?)

That Sir is the inlet temp sensor. Engine must be off an Astra, maybe later Corsa. It was on the inlet on the Nova, not the induction trunking.

That'll be the difference in your looms- the location and the differing plugs between the two types of temp sensor. If you look in the pic below, the Nova C14SE has the temp sensor on the right of the inlet manifold just below the vacuum take off for the FPR:

:) at last i know :)

but i was just curious as to what it was, you must admit it looks MAFFY ;)

the engine i have in the car is the same as the one in your pic the spare is just that, a spare, i am keeping it for the head and block just in case i blow the 'main' engine

thanks anyway

steve (who does'nt have to worry about MAF's) ;)
